Just being real.. I watch this channel and it brings me to earth, its like chilling with an old friend. You dont put on, stress the lighting or background. I think the greats of old would have the upmost respect for your style. As do I. Much respect to you Boss!! Thank God there are people that are just into guitar with no concerns of being a supa star 💫

Great stuff! PRS frets have a school bus top too, almost flat in the center. Some people think it's just to make them last longer. Did Joel say that it was for tone - and you thought it made them sound warmer? Very interesting!

No so much on the crown = tone. More on the playability and efficiency. Maybe the cleanliness of the surrounding note

Great post! Going to be dressing my frets on my Warmoth Frankenstrat. I have reshaped the back of the neck, and really love the profile. There’s a little high spot on the 18th fret, and I want to have the fret ends kind of like teardrops with rolled fretboard edges. The bevel from Warmoth is really good and reasonably smooth, but the frets are tall and grab the flesh on first knuckle, on my first finger if I’m working on my bends. I’m playing more with a wraparound grip, and I’m looking for a more comfortable feel? Totally invaluable to watch a master reshape the fret ends! Giving me courage to try...have to remember to have PATIENCE

Extremely interesting as always! 👍 Just wondering why you didn't go stainless again with your preferred bevel to slow the need for the next fret job (especially after being concerned about the slot life etc)? How long did your stainless frets last? Cheers and thanks for your great content 😎🎶🎸

Could you just make a edge of tool with less degree of bevel? That hand work on the ends looked tuff. I like (hot dog) ends also. Love the videos. Way to go keep it up.

Love this guy Joel, gently chastises you for 2nd fret job being on your baby, comparing it to engine rebuild on priceless Yanko. Too much! This guy is as straight as they come and clearly a master at his craft. Guitar sounds great, glad you played it acoustically so we could really hear it without coloring. Nothing beats experience and it sounds like you were able to soak quite a bit up....in a future video some young gunslinger will be asking you for guidance and calling you master throughout.

Doesn’t sanding the board also sand down the inlayed dot markers? I feel like if they were all aged and yellowed, sanding them would make them appear white and new looking again and not match the rest of the patina/wear. Curious how you think about that.

So as stated. We arent really using pressure or force. Not try to dig in. I see the concern, but much of a fret job is a feel thing. Just the wrap up at the end. They still look old! Thanks for the interest!!

Quick question so I’m on a budget and was thinking of ordering a Squier Classic Vibe and putting 59 pickups in it along with Fender Tremelo or should I go with the AliExpressSRV relic guitar and put 59s in that guitar with tuner lockers and tremelo. I been seeing those with alder bodies . Anyway any suggestions? Thanks bud

Now I know that the sanding didn’t really affect how much wood gets taken off the fingerboard, but man it always hurts me to see a sanded neck like that. I understand its only best for the playability of the guitar. My 66 mustang has original frets and beautifully worn spots on the neck. I know that when it does have to get re-fretted (sometime soon) they will most likely sand down the board like you did to yours and I just feel awful about ruining some of that patina and wear. Maybe most of the divots will still be intact, but it still irks me. Something so perfectly beautiful about an untouched fretboard thats been worn in for almost 55 years.

@ryanwalsh2455 3 жыл бұрын
JIMISTONED not yet. Honesty they have life left in them, no playability issues so far. Its one of those things where id rather sacrifice originality for playability, 60’s mustangs dont hold anywhere near the value of a strat or even jazzmaster. And im no collector, im a player! I had it professionally set up and it plays like a dream 100% original.
