As my sister pointed out, I'm about the same age as the boy in the movie. What a great parade that was; no wonder we were all so excited to see it every year. Your dad captured some magical moments; thank you!

I really enjoyed this video. I watch it every year and never missed one since the late 60s. I only went a few times and the last time, ofcourse they had record breaking cold temperatures that day, but I'll never forget it. It was wonderful.

This is so sweet,..truly an essence of America long gone. And the color is so brilliant! Must have been a high dollar camera in it's day!

I don't even know you, but I am fahrklempt from watching your home movies. We are close in age. Just beautiful. You're so lucky to have them. My dad took a ton of 8mm in the '50s, but we lost the footage in a flooded basement. Lesson learned.

Very cool, thank you. I may have been there too. I have memories of seeing the parade when I was very young, sitting on dad's shoulders. In fact there are pictures of me with the same hat you are wearing. Classic.

***** Grazie, Gabriella ☺ ☺ I wish I'd had a good motion picture camera at parades not only for the 4th of July but also for Mormon Day from my childhood in my modest sized town in Idaho :)) My brother had a good friend, Rob Keller, his family owned an early Ford, perfect condition with canary yellow paint and black, during the parade he got out of the car and danced on the street with a pretty girl ... I was amazed at how well he danced, I think they danced 'The Charleston' ☺ Tim

For those that like the look of this, it often comes as surprise to people that you can still buy Regular 8 and Super 8 film. In fact with Super 8 there is still a pretty reasonable number of choices of film types available. No Kodachrome though anymore like the film shown here.

@PSDnumber4 Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I definitely think a half-century ago, people (especially children) found parades much more exciting than they do in today's ultra-technological society. In a world without smart phones, video games, mobile devices, streaming videos and Blu-Ray movies... a Thanksgiving parade was definitely a treat and much more entertaining. :)
