Most young people don't realize or appreciate the amount of labor and craftsmanship in these antiques! The chest you purchased is still functional and beautiful after 100 yrs.,a very wise choice! Another great video! Living vicariously thru you. I don't go out that much do to Pandemic and they cancelled the flea market I use to go to in a big park near my home. So watching your videos is an absolute joy. I have turned to online buying meanwhile. I loved those lights! So beautiful! Saw that style on Pinterest. Then in a magazine. tip: A can of computer keyboard aresol air cleaner would blow out dust and dirt on that beautiful carved bench. Computer qtips are long handled so dip them in tungseed oil and you can get that bench clean in every crevice. I would get a piece of velvet and a long body pillow as bench cushion filler... sew up a seat cushion and take extra fiberfill out of pillow if it is too fluffy. Long upholstry needle and a button cover handheld gadget are sold at JoAnn Fabric or other craft fabric stores....recover existing buttons off old seat, sew buttons back on, going all way thru and tying off on cushion underside, pulling tightly to create a uniform tufted seat. You can look at old cover for button plavement and mark tiny x on new cushion to place in uniform manner. Once completed, you could staple cushion in place or use double sided velcro underneath in strips to hold seat cushion firmly in place...that way you could wash or dry clean seat. Beautiful bench by the way....I would stain it to match the gorgous wood tone on your Victorian bed. Get a victorian carved parlor table with marble top...all very romantic. I would droop a swag of matching velvet as a valance on window drapes, even add fringe to velvet swag. A big elegant vase with peacock feather plums and ferns and rose buds with a touch of baby's breath....would finish off the bedroom. Maybe, if have room...a realistic fireplace mantel, with huge gilded frame mirror above fireplace. A comfotable highbacked Victorian stuffed tapestry chair, near fireplace...to sit by fire and read. The mirror would reflect your beautiful hanging lights. A demure table by a window could hold a fern with an orcid or a lily plant to bring a living breath into this sanctuary. Another thing in corner of fireplace...a functional record player stand antique or reproduction. You could use it for a soothing cd or antique vinyl record if its a reproduction piece with vintage look. A way to surround yourself in quiet, soothing luxury. A grand Victorian or Great Gatsby era existence. I would make sure I sat by fireplace, ate a slice of chocolate cake...and sank into my secret romantic, luxurious bedroom.

Mary, 1st of all, you are a professional!!! 2nd... you read my mind!! Gatsby/Victorian says it all! I am really having trouble finding vintage velvet. I found stage curtains at a yard sale (wrong color) once, so I'm not ready to give up yet! I absolutely LOVE the record player idea!!!! Bench: the air cleaner is brilliant!! So is the velcro!!! Even if your house is lathe and plaster there are still studs somewhere in walls, ceiling and floor joists. Get a stud finder, ladder and drill with bit a little smaller than the hardware hook that will screw into stud. The links will serve as a way to properly height adjust the globes . Just make sure the hooks are secure into a ceiling stud. Use a screw driver sideways to torque them in.
