My friends recieved Pioneer audio equipment as a wedding gift back in the 80's. Now they are getting divorced & neither want any memories of their 35 years together, so they were happy to give all their audio equipment to me! Unfortunately I dont know much about vintage electronics, but that's why I'm watching this video.. trying to figure out how to price this stuff. Thanks for the info!

What a gorgeous collection and display. My dad's vintage Pioneer amp collection got me hooked on 60's and 70's audio design. What a gorgeous era.

Gotta have wood, trimmed with silver and smoked glass. There, all you need to know. I admire your complete confidence. Way we should all go. I like the orange chair most! Somebody must have commented on your great rack system so I will be tasteful and desist. Your right. Quality. You got it in spades.

That is a cool collection and a great racking idea, very complementary.
What an awesome collection of vintage receivers you've got there. It's nice to see somebody so passionate about vintage audio equipment too. The 70's really was the golden era for hifi equipment. The last great hoorah for affordable audio equipment (discounting really expensive, high end stuff) was possibly Pioneer's Blue Line series in the early 80's. It's hard to find much after that time that has the beautiful metallic faces.... it mostly all turned to plastic which was no doubt cheaper to produce but it doesn't look nearly as nice.

I love those old stereo receivers, but instead of collecting the actual thing, i collect photos of my old favorites, and have a file I call 'Stereo Daze' for everything audio. I do have one 1974 Marantz 2015, a whole 15 watts per channel, perfectly fine for me, 65 and counting.

Well I did pay up and got my first vintage receiver it was at a flea market a pioneer SX1250. It was listed on CL so that's how I found it. It looks great. Two days ago I told my friend I was not going to look at CL anymore so I can stop. But I took a peek and bam 2325 Marantz was just put on 2 hours ago. So guess what I came home with today. That darn bug bit me but I'm done. Not looking anymore. Lol. Thanks Rosie now I have two beautiful monsters thanks to you. Who knows might have to get one more. can you say Sansui.

Love your informational videos! I was wondering if you could tell me which brands from that late ‘50s to mid ‘60s golden age of hifi tube era DO NOT USE the silver mica capacitors in the IF cans. It’s something I (for obvious reasons) would like to avoid.

Hello Rosie I bought a pioneer sx 1050 on Friday and hooked it up to my Dcm kx12 speakers when I got it home and omg wow what an amazing sound. I took it to a local stereo shop Saturday and dropped it off to have it cleaned up. I was just wondering what your opinion is on that receiver. I only ask that because I watch and like your videos and trust your opinions. Thanks 😁

hi rosie just a little story i used 2 have a sherwood amp and on the id plate on the rear it had written that it was a "stereophonic amprifier"spelt like ihow it would be pronouced by a japanese person.have you ever seen such a plate?

Hello, Rosie. Do you think an equipment with a remade faceplate - I know peope who can make them exactly as the new one - would still retain it's value? I'm not a collector: mine are for listening to but I'm interested in gettting into the market. Oh ... nice shelves!
@garyweaver92228 жыл бұрын
Investment and such means nothing to me. You remember what sounded good and what was hot in the reviews. Reviews used to have a bench test, along with the usage aspect. With receivers, for example, you may find the low and mid watt models sound better than the big boys every body prices up.

@thevintagehifiambassador85247 жыл бұрын
how awfully oldfashioned your hifi components are lol, I collect 80ies and nineties and my nephews do not even consider my 2006 latest component and only say that they do not care about my old waste...yeah that hurts...The Sony receiver is very nice...well, I prefer the black 80ies -1993...and then finito with the hifi excitement except the expensive newer things who are always interesting like Nagra, Naim, Nad etc
@rosieokelly7 жыл бұрын
You have a lot to learn about vintage build and quality compared to the black plastic junk that has flooded the market for 30 years. The units I have appreciate in value every year. I can't think of any black plastic unit that can make the same claim. Plus, these units sound so much better! Cooler, too
@thevintagehifiambassador85247 жыл бұрын
You must learn that even in the last 30 years back, I must admit, only the first 5- maximum 8 years, there always were some units who were no plastic junk, but made of metal like a Denon CD player, Sony tape decks, Kenwood tuner....but Revox quality of the 70ies is another world but what matters, in the end, is only the output, only the sound matters but I deeply must disagree with the coolness...from the 70ies lots of components like my Ka-3700 Kenny amplifier sound warmer :-) well it's a question of age, you always prefer the components you couldn't afford at the age between 12-15 years...it's psychology, I will never prefer the 70 over the 80 ones...it's innate, but at least I wanted to know the 70ies build quality and have 3 of 45 components lol
