Kyoto's vintage clothing street, “Gokomachi-dori
HOMIES”, a vintage clothing store located about a minute's walk from Shijo-dori
Since opening in 2007, the store has consistently gone to the US and Europe to buy items directly,
and the store is lined with vintage items from all over the world.
The owner, Mr. Kuwahara, is particular about items that are called “boro”, which are items that are noticeably damaged or dirty.
He sells second-hand clothes that have come out of American coalmines and barns without any repairs,
so many of the jeans have a worn look.
The style of neutralizing this with items of good quality, such as old Tiffany and leather shoes,
is different from other stores and is very popular.
If you visit Kyoto, this is a shop you definitely want to visit.
