The White Circle Pocket Library imprint published by Toronto’s Wm. Collins & Sons Co. Canada began in 1942. The first books do not have illustrated covers. Collins switched to illustrated covers in 1943. Many of the White Circle artists are anonymous or now forgotten. There are 459 numbered books in the Canadian White Circle imprint published between 1942 and 1952. Both of the Canadian White Circles you have (207 and 250) have cover art by Canadian artist Margaret Paull. She did over 100 covers for them until she became their art director in 1947.

Jules, great video, the difference in book size may be because publishers sometimes used different printers for the books and these printers had different machines and presses that made some slight variation in the size of books produced on those presses. Just a thought.

Hi Jules, great video. I started watching as I've just picked up a small Christie collection, which includes a couple of these. I have a copy of Hercule Poirot's Christmas 200C, which also has the green cloth spine. So I suspect these bindings are certainly "official" and the number is, of course, right in the middle of the books that you have in this format. But I can't offer any more info, I'm afraid!
