Rotax DSB Honestly the Motoplat is great. For one it sparks around 150 RPM vs 450 with the PVL, nice for push starts. See if you can nab a slide carb in the 28-30m range for ultimate waft. If they're still available and compatible, Italsistem made excellent cylinder studs and rotary disks.

Hey boss, thanks heaps for the info. yeah those slide carbs are getting rare these days. was thinking about the X30 Tyrton carb as a replacement. bolts straight on

Rotax DSB. Can tell by mount of coil and the fact the exhaust side fins are braced together. In addition it was rehomologated in 91 with wide studs to have a bigger exhaust port iirc. If you measure these you can tell which year engine you have.

Hi Mate the hl340 are the cabs used for running in ect. If you can get a hl360 they will perform better. Below are the mixture setting: Setting up your 2-cycle Tillotson Carburetor. With today's state of the art motors and stinger type exhaust systems, the following information will help you achieve the desired results that you need from these motors. Before mounting your Tillotson carburetor check the pulse track from the carb mounting surface and make sure that this track through the carb adapter , gaskets and etc is clear and in line with each other. Set the low speed needle at 1+1/2 turns out and the high speed needle at 1+1/8 turns out. Adjust the throttle stop screw on the carburetor so that it just cushions the butterfly when the throttle valve goes closed. Do not set the carburetor so that the engine will idle as this will cause the engine to lean out in the corners and anytime you are off the throttle.

love the video! I usually run bigger slide carbs on my dsb and dsc rotax engines, but a tillottson should be around 1.0 low and 1-1/2 on the high needle if i can remember correctly. A PVL Analog (105-458) is a good reliable replacement for the motoplat, although motoplats makes them a little easyer to start sometimes (sparks at around 450rpm i believe) and i put them at around 1.8-2.2mm before TDC.

Also a good tip, file a flat on a small washer and Araldite it into the groove on the slow running jet. You can then adjust on the fly 🪰👍 Another tip place a piece of hardwiring plastic between the carb and chain of a L bracket on the rotor cover. Will prevent and save the carb if the chain snaps, saves $$$$ 👍. Enjoy
