I have one of these and really enjoyed your video! Great how you show the changes in amp settings with the graphics. Excellent touch!

Well done. Could hear the different tonal options well, even on a smartphone skpr in the shower! I was thinking about dusting my ond amp off; now I will. Thanks!

Is it too loud for home use? Or is bedroom playing do-able? I really want one but think it may be way to loud so I would never get to hear that sweet spot. @jessegimbel @@jessegimbel

Get yourself an attenuator. It will allow you to hit the sweet spot on any amp at sound levels you can live with.@@Where_Have_All_My_Files_Gone

Tremolo is glorious!

Couldn’t agree more! Hard to beat a classic like this era. Love the earlier harmonic trem too, I have a brown panel Princeton with that and it’s excellent.

Nice amp! I've got a silver face/drip edge/black line deluxe reverb that I'll probably never sell. These are desert island amps, basically a holy grail black panel in disguise ;-)

Couldn’t agree more! Plus while their prices have been shooting up, it’s easier to justify keeping one of these babies forever compared to having your money tied up in other models that fetch a few thousand at this point.

I have a ‘77 Vibro Champ I bought brand new for $125 still play it all these years later

No kidding! That’s actually exactly what I paid for this one about ten year ago, when silverface prices were still on the low end.

Other than the vibrato what is the difference between a Champ and a Vibro Champ?
@jessegimbel9 ай бұрын
Only the vibrato (tremolo), from what I’ve read!

May I please ask what someone may expect to sell a mint condition one for in the midwest nowadays? I have this very one sitting next to me. Places are undercutting deals like crazy. I know what I got 😅

Very nice video, thanks for this demo! I’m very interested, as I have what I think is a 68 VC black line drip edge, but mine does has a replacement speaker in it (some kind of Jensen) and the amp does not break up, really through the entire range, even at 10. This is disappointing to me; it still sounds great, and it’s plenty loud for its wattage, but I’d like that breakup tone to be accessible at least on from volume set 8-10. I think I’ve got the original speaker but never tried it in the amp. Gonna have to now. I had a mid 70s champ and that thing distorted from 6 on, and it was fantastic, but way quieter than my VC. If you turned that amp past 6 it just got more dirty, not louder. Blah blah blah. Thanks for a great video. Excellent playing and a very thoughtful demo. Subscribing!

Thank you! I’d definitely give that original speaker a try! I’ve also used a Jupiter speaker in a Princeton that had a failing speaker and wouldn’t hesitate to try something from them in a Vibrochamp.
@dansweeney4497 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! I’m going to dig that speaker out!

And hadn’t heard of Jupiter speakers before, that’s my plan B should the original not work out. I have a friend who is a pro at reconing speakers (learned from an old pro at JBL way back in the day), so I’ll probably get him to look at even regardless. Thanks again! I really enjoyed your video.
@jessegimbel Жыл бұрын
@@dansweeney4497 reconed speakers are great! They’re always a little stiffer than before reconing to start, but once they’ve loosened up I think that’s as close as you can get to where you started but without the issues. I’ve got a brownface Princeton I’m thinking of demoing, but I believe I’ve got the Jupiter in there right now because the original speaker is pretty tired. I’d prefer to demo it with the Jupiter since it’s in better shape, but don’t know if it’d be less useful of a demo if it’s not with the original speaker.
@dansweeney4497 Жыл бұрын
Is the Jupiter similar in tone to the original? I’d personally really like to hear that demo!
