In some isolated parts of Europe there lives a very very very small bird related to the goose, it some-times happens ( no fault on anyones behalf) that one of these " Oca- minisculus" usually a male showing off ends up getting sucked in to the valve during the vacuum sealing process. A fund has been established in the EU to save these creatures. Your video has helped create awareness of the many obstacles and dangers facing this virtually invisible Goose and for that alone "Thank-you" .

Hmmmm... Not a word about the analog 30w goose-down pillows. I sense a conspiracy afoot by the tube and bedding industries.

OK, thats an interesting one! Thanks Terry

When I was kid I learned about electronics from my dad. Before I watched the video I new from the words 'tube' and chirp I new something had to be oscillating. Love your videos. De KB0CCN.

May your amplifiers amplify, and your oscillators oscillate and never the other way around.

That would have been interesting to see the chirp on the oscilloscope.

Weird! I've never heard that before, and I use JJ's in some of my Fender and Fender-style amps. Must be a bad tube.

Another fine job there. ❤👏

D-Lad I Wish you would have used another JJ tube. Maybe tube was defective. All manufacturers produce defective parts sometimes. Don’t they?

It was just a defective tube. Good to show what to look for if you have this problem

To funny.. I thought it sounded like a monkey not a bird. Got to feed those JJ tubes some bananas lol 😂

Good fix on those cold solder joints with new caps and D-lab quality soldering! Odd sounding chirp. Was that 12AX7 microphonic?

I want a JJ-Birdie D-Lab amplifier!!

This makes me wonder if the JJ tube was mechanically oscillating. Perhaps one of the grid wires was loose - enabling the force due to the E-field to physically move the grid wire. But, once that grid wire moves the E field changes causing the wire to move back to where it once was - and repeat.

I was wondering how the tube could cause this.

Man ! That sure sounds like one of the sea gulls on at least two Pink Floyd songs ! Is that where Roger got them? This certainly took more than 2 minutes to track down, but not a whole lot more-Terry knows his stuff! That Mullard tube probably cost five times more than the JJ

Hello Mr. Terry how are you. Hope you're doing good. I am stuck trying to repair an antique Whites Gold master Metal detector model 64T. I don't know where to get a schematic. Its frustrating because I am 61 years old and a retired TV repairman and a little 5 transistor circuit is kicking me in the butt. I replaced three bad transistors and two bad electrolytics and checked all the resistors and film capacitors but still not working. The meter goes below zero when I turn it on and the speaker makes a click. The audio output is a round metal twelve pin IC I think it's working because it amplifies a screwdriver noise when the input is touched. The pickup coil has continuity but it still could be bad. The meter still goes below zero when switched on even with the coil disconnected. I don't know what to think. Any ideas would be welcomed

JJ's are trash. It's a shame so many folks don't know what good tubes are and the internet just tells everyone to buy JJ's.
