Can not thank Pt. Dr. Arun Dravid for uploading these gems. These are gems not only of Jaipur Atrauli Gharana but of Hindustani Khayal Music. One

This is the " TRIVENI SANGAMAM " of rivers Gaan Saraswati , Dr Pandit Dravidji and Jamuna .! Not an ordinary music ! It's a mystic . Thank you very much !

Superb ! Nothing short of brilliance with this recording of vintage Tai's Kanada ! Another thing I must mention is that I find so gratifying, immensely so, is that off late this is the second exceptional bit of Tai's music that has been released from the " collection " or archives of Pt. Arun Dravid. I don't know IF he is in fact releasing these recordings - if so then I must Thank him from the bottom of my heart. In the past I have made some disparaging remarks when he replied to a post saying that he held 100's of hours of her music - pristine and digitized ; BUT he would not release them. I contacted a certain gentleman who a few years ago posted several - more than several of Kishori Amonkar's concerts on KZbin - Just to Thank him. He replied that he along with the help of his nephew was posting every recording he had after attempting to digitally clean them - the idea being that he wanted it out in the public domain " before it was too late ". I bow to this sentiment. Really I do NOT understand why some people would be so dogmatic in their attempt to hide away / hoard the recordings they have. Surely it must dawn on them that in doing so they are being extremely petty. Apart from releasing them on KZbin for the interested public's benefit there isn't much more that can be done with the priceless recordings being hidden away. Kishori Amonkar's music as in these concerts will not find place ( sadly ) in any commercial outlet ,for example itunes. Apart from KZbin I don't know where her music is available - Last year I tried to find and buy her Badhava - Blessings DVD ( by Amol Palekar ) I cannot tell you how difficult it was for me - finally I found the last copy with a large music distributor in Mazgaon, Mumbai. To my luck I managed to find the last copy. In parting I would like to suggest that lovers of Tai's music try out bluemp3.ru and search for Kishori Amonkar. There is also a torrent file 7.13 GB that contains 44 of her entire discography and more. Please find it. I can only once again appeal to Shri Arun Dravid to please release the music he is holding. And Thank you once again for this one and the one released by Diwan Singh a short while ago.

Let's not be critical and rather we should thank Dr dravid for preserving this skillfully for decades. He was doing this on behalf of Tai and could not release without her permission. I guess post her death he allowed her family to take decision as legally they own IPR. He is said few months back that he would release this music thr sangeetveda1 channel means they must have reached sone consensus.. let's not be bitter and wait for each previous gem..

I don't like to enter into any controversy here. But I must set the record straight on the issues raised by Mr. Ketkar. 1. Yes, it is ME that is releasing these recordings. 2. During the period prior to 1990, Kishoritai, my supreme Guru of almost 40 years, had asked me to personally record every one of her concerts in Mumbai on reel tapes, except for the period 1966-1976 when I was in USA for education and employment. During those 10 years, she did not sing much due to a prolonged voice debility. Even the few concerts she did, including those outside of Mumbai, she handed each recording to me for safe keeping to prevent theft and deterioration of the tape material in Mumbai weather. In my objective evaluation, 1960-1990 were the best and golden years of her Gayaki, as they represented the golden mean of the Jaipur Gharana character enhanced with her own beautification with Bhava. I do possess most of the later recordings also, but I will only focus on this era. 3. I was under strict instructions by Kishoritai never to part with any of those tapes, or copy them for anyone else. She made me take a vow. Much as I would have liked to bring them out during her life-time, I was bound by my oath. She even turned down my proposal to bring out a set of 10 CD's. After her death, I urged her sons to release them for music lovers of the world. Since in the mean time much pirated as well as second and third copies of the originals began surfacing on KZbin, (I suspect the sources, but I won't name them), I decided with the owner of Sangeetveda1 channel to bring them out one by one. So please don't accuse me of hiding them. 4. I not only cleaned each of the hundreds of reels regularly with iso-propyl alcohol (I know this, being a chemical engineer) to protect them from Mumbai weather, but I also used a very good software to digitally transfer them, and remove wasted passages such as Tabla tuning, coughing, etc., did noise reduction and equalization, to bring them almost up to studio quality, even with inherent limitations of audio equipment of those years. 5. It is a time-consuming process to upload each recording, interspersed with Kishoritai's old vintage photos (before she started wearing glasses). Therefore, be patient. These recordings will come on Sangeetveda1 channel one by one as expeditiously as possible. 6. Don't try to learn these Raagas and Bandishes by copying from these uploads. If not learnt from Gurumukh, even a talented singer invariably distorts it badly! That's the last thing I want to happen. 7. Sorry for this long response. But it is essential to set the record straight with people accusing me of hoarding these recordings. To the contrary, if this care was not taken, all these tapes would have been stolen and/or decayed beyond salvaging. Thank you, and enjoy them. Sincerely, Dr. Arun Dravid

@@anandjuvekar7742 Anand, Just to mention - I am not being critical at all. Somehow I believe this is not the time to harbour negative feelings of any kind - and I do not. My sentiments focus on one word and that is Thank you ! This in the context of Kishori Amonkar's music and pretty much every other aspect in my life. Stay safe !

Thank you Dr. Dravid - appreciate your detailed note. I just wish that the 10 CD collection had been released. Will indeed look forward to what you choose to upload and Thank you . You upload at 240 - possibly your intention is to ensure that these recordings are not misused commercially. Honestly , you need to be more realistic here. If you are going to release some of the magic you are so privileged to hold may I request that it be done in the best clarity possible. ( I do not know of any instances of Tai's music being misused subsequent to any uploads on KZbin. Should you know more about this possibly you could just let us know.) Best regards , and in ending , please know that there are zero negative feelings from my side.

@@anandketkar2191 The uploading work is done by my friend Dattaji, who owns the Sangeetveda1 channel. I will pass on your comment about the 240 upload speed and see if he can make any change for future uploads. My recordings are either 44khz wav format or at least 192 kbps mP3 format. Furthermore, currently many people are uploading Kishoritai's concert recordings. I am sure none of these are the originals nor have they been digitally edited for upgrading quality and removing wasted massaged. Some are not the full versions. I strongly suspect that these may be pirated 2nd and 3rd copies. From some past episodes, I know some sources who had stolen many reels from Kishoritai's home. Some turned up many years ago as mP3 files on Cd's sold under the Garware bridge in Pune for Rs. 100 each. Kishoritai was frustrated by such episodes. There is nothing one can do to stop these spurces. My plan is not to release Raagas that have already been posted by others, unless I know my ORIGINALS are (a) from her golden younger years and/or (b) better digitized and edited. My archives have 3 to 10 recordings of the same Raag from different concerts. I try to select the one best in musical quality as well as technical quality. You have to bear with the fact that the old recordings were made often with a single microphone, and since prior to 1981 Kishoritai played the Tanpura herself (no Swarmandal), the Tanpura sound was a bit too loud. But the music was outstanding! I hope the effort Dattaji and I are putting in is worthwhile. I appreciate your feedback. Thank you, and best wishes.
