Nice video again Duane! Thanks for re-sharing this with me.

@JPa311979 - Yep it has that look to it, I keep thinking it's like a jet engine intake. The fan blade itself is plastic, it's held on with the Rubber Grommet of Doom.

That is one cool fan.I like those blades.

General Electric 2 speed fan Model /Catalogue Number F12PG21 made by GE from 1968 until 1973 when GE stopped making fans. Those were excellent fans

Nice, unique fan. It's quiet and smooth sounding.

Thanks! It's very decent, I've found that low speed is much quieter when run on 105 volts.

i like those. i would like to find one with an osha cage. i dont have a preference on if it has metal or the plastic blade. i think they are neat. and ge has used the strap base since the 40's, and i belive yours is made somewhere in the 60's i belive GE was outsourcing quality "all plastic constucted" fans from another company by that point in the 70's ive seen some around and they seem like very nice fans like most other 70's fans. and they really are whisper quiet!

@Tabby266 - That motor housing is from a 1956 Signal 16" oscillator that I serviced and sold to a co-worker. I've got a video of that one.

Nice GE!! Now we know that they used at least two different type cage badges...mine has a plastic GE cage badge, and yours looks to be metal! You can see the difference by looking at my video. The plastic cage badge looks to be larger than the metal one.

@1944johndeerel - I've got literature that puts these fans in the early 1970's. I think that due to the metal cage medallion, that this is late 60's. I think the later of this series had plastic badges. The other later all plastic "GE" fans I think were made by Ku-Hsing. I like these better though.

@mitchman2100 - Yep, I've had it a while. It throws a very good bit of air. It's a little loud-ish, but actually has the power to match the sound (unlike crappy modern fans, which are loud AND gutless.)

I can't remember ever seeing a 5 blade fan! The back of the motor housing looks like one of the warp engines on the Enterprise. Plastic blade?

When did plastic blades start appearing on fans? Was it during the 60s or the 70s?

Have one just like this, but just about impossible to get the blades off to take it apart to put fresh grease and oil in it. Afraid to break the plastic blades, and no room in the back to really get in there. :-(

Update! (Yeah 4 years later) I took mine all apart, and completely cleaned it, and rewired it, and fresh grease and oiled. Runs like new! :-)
@DBVintage6 жыл бұрын
Reply (LOL 7 months later!) - doing that makes a big difference! I like how these are easy to get in to the motor. While I like the smaller GE, I've never taken it apart due to the rubber hub of doom.

Really? you were able to find literature placing those in the early 70's? wow! i never would have guessed they made those into the 70's. 60's i could belive easier.
