Also LOVE that Midge stand! I want it! LOL I also love that asymmetrical bang that tucks under on the flip wigs... all my FQ and Miss Barbie flip wigs have that and it just looks so early 60's to me!

I love the story of this doll, and I love that you're keeping her as the original owner had her, with the On The Avenue fashion and the handmade crochet stole. I know a lot of collectors turn their noses up at 'mommy made' stuff, but I'm also a sentimental person and I don't have the heart to just toss stuff like away. A lot of it is really beautifully made, and even the really badly made stuff, if it looks like it was made by a child, I have to keep it and clean it up and store it properly if it's not on a doll. I love to put those kinds of fashions on repro dolls, because usually I steal repro dolls fashions to put on vintage dolls, and I have naked repro dolls lying around. I wonder if there's a way to re-gild the belt? Maybe just some thin self-adhesive gold vinyl over top of the existing substrate?

WOW!!! Japanese Midge!!! I remember seeing her when I visited? So cool! I thought you would like her, as she has always given me a kinda 'Audrey Hepburn' vibe... (Not that she looks a lot like her or anything, but just in her 'attitude'... I could see her in a boat neck top and pedal pushers! LOL) Glad you got 'On The Avenue' as well as you might remember my pic from years ago where I showed the numerous couturiers back then who also did that swing jacket look with the belt in front. Loving those JE wigs, too! I gotta steal those! LOL Great you are adding to your FQ collection. You need to bring your negligee outfit over here next time for a 'Twins' shoot! (As you know that my Miss Barbie is wearing that. We can dress one of my other Miss Barbies in it or you could put it on one of your dolls.)

Did you see her? I can't even remember when you last came here. I do remember you coming over and we photographed my Midge clone. I thought I was keeping this gal a secret from everyone but I do remember showing you a pic with her in it be accident. I have other secret dolls too! 😂 I honestly don't see Audrey 😂🤷🏼♂️ I see those old geisha illustrations. She IS more "demure" though I guess.

Beautiful restoration! Have you tried zit cream and sunlight for the remanent of the green ears? If you do cover her face maybe with a cotton pad and soft masking tape to prevent the sun fading her makeup… It works great I have heard…
@DeanReenКүн бұрын
Thank you ❤️😘 Yes, I have tried it before and it has worked. But in almost every case the face paint eventually fades as the peroxide moves through the vinyl. It can take years for it to happen and it seems almost impossible to prevent. I wanted to try vinegar as it isn't a heavy duty chemical and it is one ingredient which can be neutralised with another single ingredient (bi-carb soda). It isn't as quick as other methods but I figured it was worth the gamble and I really don't want to cause damage to this particular doll if I can help it.

@@DeanReen for dolls with moderate green ear and exceptional, original face paint, I just live with the green. It's not worth risking the fading you mentioned, which I've also experienced. Great original face paint is worth preserving at all costs. I can usually disguise the green a bit.

Congratulations on your New Midge. I've always liked her since I first saw her in Barbie Bazaar.

Thank you! ❤️ I'll need to look that up. Eddi has a few of those magazines but apart from those I haven't seen any.

@DeanReen 1995-2000 was the heyday of Barbie Bazaar. After that a bunch of staff left and the magazine went downhill. I think the New Midge article was in the February 1999 issue, but not 100% sure. I used to have a lot of magazines, and donated them in a big move.

Yay!!! 😂 Thank you ❤️ her face is incredibly sweet! Not so pretty from below but not many people look good from that angle anyway 😂 Never say never! I never thought I’d get one either but she was just sitting there and was actually affordable compared to most others I’ve seen.

Loving your hairstyle and shirt. I liked your vintage Barbie photos on Instagram❤. I didn't know vintage barbies had wigs. I've been buying more doll clothes lately for my rainbow high dolls.

Thanks Dexster ❤️ Yes, fashion queen dolls were popular for a few years and there’s a few different versions. I need to start making more clothes for my dolls. I spent all my savings this year 😱 no more dolls for me for now, but I think I’ve probably got enough 😂😊

@DeanReen I'm the same I'm not buying to many dolls either I downsized a lot this year now I only kept my favourites

@@dollingupdexster I need to downsize too! I need to get some money back 😂 I think it is good to downsize though, that way you end up with a collection you truly love.

Just an FYI about the handmade wrap--you have it inside out on the doll. I am a crocheter, so I recognized the wrong side of the wrap. Just thought you'd like to know. Your doll is lovely.
@DeanReenКүн бұрын
Thanks for letting me know! ❤ I've tried crochet a couple times but i do not have the patience for it 😂 May I ask how one can tell if it is the right side or not? And thank you 😊❤
@karenstimson2683Күн бұрын
There is a right side and wrong side of all crochet stitches, but since most crocheted pieces are made by working one row then turning and working the next, in most stitch patterns you will have both right and wrong sides of the stitches exposed no matter which side of the item is displayed, and that is the case for your wrap; however, your wrap also has an edging row that has been worked around three sides of the piece, involving multiple double crochet stitches in groups of 3 or 4. If you display the wrap with the right side of these stitches showing, it will look better (to someone who knows how crochet should look) than when the wrap is displayed as you have, with the wrong sides of these stitches showing. You can take a close look at both sides of your wrap to get an idea of the different look that the right side and wrong side of these stitches looks like! Some people don’t care about this, but to me it’s always prettier when the right side of an edging, especially, is displayed. Hope this helps ❤️
