When the thumbnail popped up in my feed i thought this was a knock off. Stopped collecting figures around '88 (Australia), had no idea this existed, even the books I have don't mention this. Aftermarket industry is a godsend for toys.

Thank you for putting this informative video up. I'm lucky enough to have a complete MOTU Laser Light Skeletor that still works ok. I was fortunate enough to pick him up back in, I think, 1989(?), from an obscure backstreet toyshop. Rare is correct for this figure; I don't think I've ever seen another one, until on here. This will be an excellent guide to refer to if anything should go wrong, so thanks again. Absolutely love this channel.

@looselycollected75053 жыл бұрын
These aren't just hard to get because of them breaking. They were essentially produced and sold only in Europe and for only about a year. Because the line ran one year longer over there past the last year in the states. So lower production numbers and the breaking issues make it hard to get them. Another reason I still don't have the two light up figures. The other two that were produced similarly were the two giants they made at the same time. I'd love to be able to find some that I could refurb and add to my collection. Thank you for sharing this video with us.

To get the old bulb out of the head you could rattle it about to get the bulb end-on to the hole in the neck and then use a cocktail stick with a blob of superglue on the end to attach it to the bulb and then pull it out if it isn't too tight coming through the hole.

I used hot water to soften the headband on a vintage SyKlone and the part of his blue body that went in the water discolored whiteish. Water was heated in the microwave and was bubbling so there is an overheating danger at times. Your stove method is probably better, brought just to boiling. If you put a bit of Milliput or something sticky on a toothpick and push it up inside the head you can stick the loose bulb in place to prevent it from rattling. Sometimes sticking a rattling piece in place is better than trying to get the piece out.

Great video. I am curious to see how your super glue performed specifically on the head. As a resin caster and maker of custom figures, I know that plastic and resin react very differently to super glue. For that reason I typically use UV resin to join them.
@MrDrokkul3 жыл бұрын
Having worked at a plastics factory I can tell you that is not a short fill or "short shot" as we would have called it. With a short fill you are always going to have loss of detail somewhere and that leg appears to have all of the surface details intact. Either it came out of the mold early before cooling and bent in the drop chute of the press somehow or it was heated and bent at some point once it was in the hands of the public.

I love how you fix these old figures but you've actually ruined the play feature on this one. That tab is meant to be bent as it operates by moving the arm up and down. I'm sure you're aware of this but thought I'd pipe up anyway as others may copy and it kinda takes away from the figure if you have to install an on/off switch because you repaired the manufactured one
