I recently covered how to repair a broken He-man chest armour (armor for those in the US) and was asked to show a few more ways to fix it. So this video covers a few more commonly broken versions of the armour and how to fix it.

Great video as always. Missing/broken armors were the bane of my MOTU collection as a boy.

A good friend of mine, a fellow collector and customizer, recommended this channel. This is the first of your videos I chose to watch and I like your style! Funny thing, I look at your cutting mat and it reminds me of how NOT clean my own looks, lol! Plus you reminded me, I need to invest in a better pin vise. The one I have now leaves much to be desired.

To my eye those clips look a little bit like a Ty-wrap, zip-tie, cable tie etcetera end. Drilling out the bit that locks the tie or maybe a small file opening up the locking end may help out those straps. The long end of the tie with a little sanding may become thin enough to replace a broken strap. It looks like that plastic could be welded with the old heated screwdriver tip or perhaps liquid weld? I've seen bunches of ties in all sorts of colors. Just some thoughts.

Hey there Mr. Toy Polloi! We actually saw you in Nakano today at a shop! We would have said hello, but we didn't want to bother you. Knowing your videos, as we do -- it looked like you were actually shooting, but we weren't sure. I tried to encourage my son to tug your sleeve, but he was too shy. He may have been intimidated by your size -- you are taller than we imagined! Anyway, we decided it was a thrill just to see you at work and we counted that as our blessing. Enjoy your time in Japan. Can't wait to see your videos of the trip.

Hello Dave, I have had success with a soldering iron and similar plastic , on the GIjOE shoulder harness , it had snapped just at the button where the arm hole is. Had to use low heat to keep it from totally melting away to nothing. I also repair a deep sea diver's helmet face plate , luckily I had some gold color plastic to match. Both turned out nice.

I was just thinking. Maybe a tip for the next restoration. In pet stores you can buy walk lines for each animal. Even for very small such as ferrets and Guinea pigs. Sometimes they are pretty pricey but you have a lot of material to work with. The beauty of these lines is that they are strong and in all kinds of colors. These lines include plastic closures that have a very long life.

Building on the boiled water method I find that if you are encountering a particularly stubborn piece of plastic that doesn't want to stay in its desired shape you can heat it up, hold it in place and quickly dunk it in ice water and hold it under until it cools down completely. It kind of "shocks" the plastic into place.

Hi again, Dave! Another great repair. Would a necklace clasp, possibly the ones referred to as 'lobster claws', work for an alternative for armor with the busted tab?
@toypolloi
@toypolloi 5 жыл бұрын
It might do if you can get a very small one. I just like the simplicity of the elastic. And that it can be removed easily. But a clasp could look cool.

Hi Dave. Huge fan of this fix it series. I just recently starting rebuilding my childhood MOTU collection and you have been incredibly helpful. I never had a She-Ra figure as a kid but i decided to add one to my collection this time. I was able to get ahold of one in amazing condition but her hair feels a little greasy and i assume she has never been cleaned in any way. I was wondering if you had any advise on how to wash her hair and/or her removable soft goods? This may be a good topic for you to do a video on as i cant find any videos addressing it on youtube. Thanks again for the great videos!

Hello, I have a question not related to this video but to MOTU. I just bought a Battle Ram in great shape except... it lacks half the stickers. I looked at your site, but couldn’t find the Battle Ram. Where can I find them ?

Some nice fixes here Dave, and have certainly given me some food for thought for future repairs on these and similar items. I did a repair to a similar break you had with the shoulder connection on the 2nd Skeletor armour, would you mind if i did a video on that as i had already planned to before hand and you uploading this has actually made it easier for me and you might prefer it to your fix?

Also you can use this UV resin www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01DRPOK64/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to attach 2 parts. You cut a small stripe of transparent plastic, add a layer of resin on the 2 parts and then you place the transparent strip of plastic on top of that. Use the lamp to activate the resin, then add another thin layer of resin on top of the transparent plastic stripe. Use the UV lamp to cure the resin. After that, expose it to sunlight (the manufacturer specifies that you should do that even if it is cloudy outside). You should do the whole procedure on the back of the armor if possible. The resin is 100% transparent, so even if you apply a thin layer on the front of the armor (as a reinforcement, the main repair will be on the back side) you will not need to paint it after it cures. It is very important to use a transparent plastic strip (I use plastic blister packaging) because the UV lamp must be able to reach the resin in order to cure it. I was able to fix both Skeletor and Teela's armors using this resin. Hope it helps...
