I asked for one of these at Christmas every year it was in production. Parents always tried to hide it but it mattered not as the one key indicator was the neatly wrapped heavy pack of D cell batteries that always accompanied it put under the tree early on…had the basic version, the air police/highway patrol version and maybe one other. Like @55commander cautioned- keep it far away from shag carpets! Fast forward to 2004-5 I was in the San Carlos Airport Museum gift shop (San Carlos, Ca.) and came across a newer version of this that was not made by Mattel, it was some other company, don’t remember the name but it was essentially the same toy and my 5 year old at the time LOVED it. Thanks for the memories!

I had a Star Trek version of this toy with the USS Enterprise. It wasnt made by Mattel, I think it was Remco.

I got this for Christmas the year it came out. I am certain I had to connect the helicopter to the bar that lifted it. It was a little black spring that you screwed onto the bar. I remember later releases came pre-connected. I wore it out and got the styrofoam aircraft carrier a couple of Christmases later.

WOW ! I remember that triangle pad and stickers , i remember the cable and Joy stick thing but I don't remember the beracade or road block ,, but I do remember nomas cat hated it it was one of the Christmas presents that All 4 of us boys got to shear and IF someone told me it would be worth six hundred dollars one day I would have laughed my butt off 🇺🇸👍

There's a lot of kids and even a few adults that would probably get a kick out of it but of course adults the novelty will probably wear off really fast that's why it's mostly for kids… And I think it would be nice to put it back into use. He also mentioned that some collectors may seal the box backup because he ripped it open to show it off… What kind of a person would reglue the box put on a shelf and that's it? Hell you might as well empty the box and just sell it to him… If that's what a collector would do as he was putting it then collectors are insane and he's marketing exactly to handicapped people LOL😱

It's not about the craftsmanship or materials, It's about the memories. This was one of my favorite toys, if not my most favorite. If I had that kind of disposable income, I would pick it up for $600.
