God damn it Thames, stop cutting the car review videos. I get you want to licence them out, but I can't see many people paying for a nearly 40yr old clip, just put ads on the car review videos and roll in the easy 💷💷💷

A friend's mother had a W reg. model with this feature . Mitsubishi bought a yellow W reg for their motor collection which they bought at an auction in the UK some years ago and was in immaculate condition.

The Colt was such an excellent car when it launched. It was just a pity that, in the US, Mitsubishi didn’t have a dealer network to market it, and the Dodge and Chrysler-Plymouth dealers that sold it instead were much more keen on shifting Omnis and Horizons instead. So the Colt didn’t get the focus and effort it was due.

@thadeus Don t take it the wrong way, but getting a brnad going is a struggle. Selling new cars is almost impossible. Scnd hand is too, but the poor people in the shop (in contrast to new sales) enjoy showing their girlfriend a different lend car every week. I get a tad irritated when Americans say a. I like soooo dig Japamaes, Japanese women maybe? No US is a very chauvinist patriot land, not even Renault came close to marketshare. b. Say a ca r is brilliant, that was on like 30 40 yrs ago. Nowadays asian cars are a sound alternative, but bad luck : not very cheap no more. The first Japanese cars to name a bad side had bumpers that were just bolted on the metal. Their car keys could bend. Mileage was worse t-avg, as was exhaust. But they were quick to learn. Like on this channel, Dolemite 16 valves..go extra Mile And Excell, they sorta anticipated the poor mans sportscars for it, but .. their risk avoidance..maybe now,? in the last years of combustion engine? 2023 that is

The UK had the sense to stop making cars, but America still keeps churning out their crappy cars and wondering why no other countries are interested in them. There are numerous reasons, they are badly made, feature horrendously outdated engineering (like pushrods, leaf springs etc) that decent car manufacturers stopped using decades ago, they have horrendous fuel efficiency and are only suited to roads with no corners. And America wonders why its car industry is going down the crapper!!!

SuperShift, what a great idea! Short spaced gears for the town centre rally stage, then longer gears for cruising up the motorway

Yeah, so in reality it was only a two-speed final drive and not enough range between the two gears to make a real difference. You did at least have two reverse gears, though...

The reason they've put in this extra shifter was the position of the engine and gearbox in a front wheel drive configuration. They needed an extra shaft to reverse the engine rotation and cleverly put an extra set of gears in, calling it the Super Shift transmission. It meant you also had two reverse gears :)

I had the five door version, cracking little car it was, took me ages to stop reaching for the second gear lever in the car that replaced it. 8 forward and 2 reverse gears.

Perhaps the 4x2 is cheaper to produce? I'd buy a 4x2 gearbox now if one brand introduces one. very useful indeed!

That's what the next generation Colt had, but not until the '85 models. Either way, the base trim had just a four speed and masochists could order a 3-speed auto.

8 speed manual that came out in 1978 but was a joke because it was a final drive difference of 4.1 vs 5.3. Basically having a 5th gear 30% longer than 4th would have been just as effective.

Mitsubishi is the type of brand that does better with a almost as dynamic looking imitation of a alfa 159.. then in the clip, this Colt, doing something originally and authentic.this car s very Bonsai ish, has few space, nimble, socialist you could even dub it. Y this is Japan. Anyway many clips on youtube channel with Happy scnd hand salesmen, the Lancer, a poor man s alfa 159 in crisp colour schemes, but black works well too. Jetfighter nose they call it.
