Vintage Morakniv Classics - Easy Outdoors Tools

In this camping tools and gadgets video we take a look at the classic vinatage mora knife - an old Swedish military knife which is still a great bushcraft survival outdoors tool.
There’s a long tradition of knife making in Mora. The term Morakniv originates from knives manufactured by the cutleries in Mora, Sweden, but has later come to refer to similar style of knives by other brands as well.
This classic mora knife has been developed and improved over more than century, and has been used by generations of carpenters and craftsmen. Users often explain that they like the Swedish knife because they are good to work with and feel right. The handle is made of painted birch wood. The blade is made of carbon steel, making it easy to re-sharpen. Remember though: it needs to be maintained, so wipe the blade and oil it after usage.
This vintage morakniv is designed and intended for Scandinavian construction workers. Mora knives are also used by all Scandinavian armies as an everyday knife, but keep in mind, that the spine will be “raw” (not grinded) on most craftsmen and construction knives. Therefore, it’s not compatible with a fire starter. But nowadays you can buy a special Mora outdoors knife or a Mora survival knife with the fire starter already built in.
This vintage Mora knife was made for the Swedish army by Bud Carl Andersson in the 1950’s. In 1961 Carl Anderson knife factory was sold to another Mora knife maker KJ Eriksson, but the classic Mora knife design remained.
Wheter you have a classic Morakniv or just an old Mora knife, rest assured - your Swedish survival knife is one of the best in the world. Even a vintage Mora knife is sometimes better then a modern knife, because they have the robust Swedish outdoors knife design. Old Moraknives are hard to come by and that is the main reason why this type of Swedish bushcraft knife is so appreciated and it is really one of the camping tools and equipment you really need.
