A great tabletop shortwave receiver. The NC-88 is a true classic. The built in speaker is a real bonus. Most receivers of the time required an external type. The metal cabinet with glass dials is a real eye catcher.

I have an NC-98, the next level up from the NC-88. It no longer works but it still looks great on my desktop and is a reminder of the many years I spent in my teens, 20's and 30's in the early 1980's through mid 2000's DX-ing the various shortwave bands with many other receivers all over the United States! Your demonstration of the NC-88 showed me what I could have enjoyed with my NC-98 in earlier times. Thanks so much for sharing!

Using CW mode for SSB, the volume should be turned fully UP, and the sensitivity knob should be used for the loudness.

National in Japan(Matsushita) was a completely unrelated company so it became world-famous as Panasonic.
