I've been listening to ed since back in these days. This is the epitome of artists struggles today. No one wants to sing along, or help you out or get involved. Then you blow up and everyone wants a piece. It's really frustrating and I think alot of people fail to realize how much strength it takes to keep smiling and playing when the people in the crowd act like you are invisible. Unfortunately we live in an age where the majority of people have to be told to like something by mass media before they even give it a shot. Glad to see artists like Ed Sheeran breaking through all the white noise. There's hope for us all =)

"Unfortunately we live in an age where the majority of people have to be told to like something by mass media before they even give it a shot." Really well said. It's only gotten worse since 7 years ago when you posted this. We live in a world of "influencers" now... aka people needing others to tell them what to like, what not to like, what's cool, what isn't. There's nothing authentic or genuine about it, sadly. But there are still some really great artists that managed to break through it somehow and stay true to themselves. I think Ed is still one of them, thank goodness.

The crowd have no idea who the hell this guy and what is in the his future! Bravo!

In this video you can clearly see why he made it. Yea, he is talented and beyond but talent alone doesn't cut it. To do what he did in this video is passion which translates in everyday for years and years of practice, exploring, polishing his craft, trial and error of builing songs of that caliber and finally the move to LA. Very well deserved. And the way he works the crowd is just incredible, you can't help but fall in love with his persona.

I just can't believe how everybody is just sitting there he is amazing and always has been amazing and I love all the words to the song that you hear in this that are not on the album he's such a lyrical genius and always will be❤❤

Fucking hell 😂 I’ve had more people singing the ‘you need me, I don’t need you’ chorus with me when I’ve performed it at little seshes with my friends! Yet this legend barely had anybody at this point. Makes me so happy to see where he is now. Respect 💪🏻

Amazing to hear a really early version of The A Team
@62lionheart2 жыл бұрын
A Team had already been written, recorded, and released for about a year. Ed just forgot the lyrics 😂 it happens to the best of us.
@400_billion_suns Жыл бұрын
@@62lionheart The date of this event was Jan 15, 2010. It was an event that featured Henry Rollins as the main headliner. Ed and some other acts were the opener entertainment in the foyer bar. The video for The A-Team was uploaded April 22, 2010, and what little I've able to find says it was recorded in 2010. Unless he recorded The A-Team in the two weeks before this show, then this was indeed before he recorded it.

Omg, see the thing is he wasn’t as confident here as he is now or even a couple years after this. Over here he is “asking” the crowd to participate. A couple years later he “dictates” them to participate. Any speaker or front man will tell you that an audience feels your vibe and energy. At that very moment you are the leader and source of energy. If they can tell you are hesitant it is like following a weak leader. When you are dominant and tell them what you want from them they follow. He learned this quick and I can’t believe the difference. That’s called practice and repetition. He played anywhere and everywhere and figured out how to deliver and get what he wants from a crowd and show. Even worked on his vocal control and guitar skills. He also learned that a tuner is very important lol. God bless you, Ed. Such an underdog to the top of the world.

@400_billion_suns Жыл бұрын
For posterity: this event was on Jan 15, 2010 at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The main act was Henry Rollins doing spoken-word poetry. Ed and a few other folks were the free early entertainment, performing in the RFH Foyer Bar. Ed's video for The A Team wasn't uploaded to youtube until April 22, 2010, and all info I can find indicates that The A-Team was recorded in 2010. That means this event in early January was very likely before he recorded the studio version, which would've happened sometime in the next few months. We all know what happened next. The rest is history. :)

This city never sleeps I hear the people walk by when it's late Sirens bleed through my windowsill I can't close my eyes Can't control what I'm into This tower is alive The lights that blind keep me awake With my hood up and lace untied Sleep fills my mind Can't control what I'm into London calls me a stranger A traveler This is now my home, my home I'm burning on the back street Stuck here sitting in the backseat I'm blazing on the street What I do isn't up to you And if the city never sleeps Then that makes two The pavement is my friend And it will take me where I need to go I find it trips me up And puts me down This is not what I'm used to The shop across the road Fulfills my needs and gives me company When I need it Voices speak through my walls I don't think I'm gonna make it Past tomorrow London calls me a stranger A traveler This is now my home, my home I'm burning on the back street Stuck here sitting in the backseat I'm blazing on the street What I do isn't up to you And if the city never sleeps Then that makes two And my lungs hurt And my ears bled With the sound of the city life Echoed in my head Do I need this to keep me alive? The traffic stops and starts But I need to move along London calls me a stranger This is not my home, home I'm burning on the back street Stuck here sitting in the backseat I'm blazing on the street What I do isn't up to you And if the city never sleeps Then that makes two
