The Vivitar lens used was made by Komine Co. Ltd. Most Vivitar lenses from the 70's to the early 90's used a code that the first or the first 2 numbers of the serial number identifies the maker. His lens start with 28 so it is a Komine made lens. Here are the known codes: 6 Olympus 9 Cosina 13 Schneider Optik 22 Kino Precision (Kiron) 25 Ozone Optical 28 Komine Co. Ltd 32 Makinon 33 Asanuma (Tokina) 37 Tokina 42 Bauer 44 Perkin Elmer (US) 47 Chinon 51 Tokyo Trading 56 Kyoe Schoji 61 Samyang 75 Hoya Optical 81 Polar I have 20 odd Vivitar lenses in T, Olympus, and M42 and they are excellent.

Well, on APS-C 1.5x it's a 42mm field of view but objects are still represented in the 28mm focal length.

42mm on crop is great. 40mm is adult human eye. IMO, 40 to 45mm is a sweet spot.

Yeah same for me here !! But I've noticed when opened all the way up and on infinity focus, the image looks terrible when shooting wide... I know how adjust this but was out last week and my footage was, well unusable to say the least. It's just the damn lcd screen in harsh sunlight on the sony that useless. Anyway time for an external monitor again i guess....
@jd57872 жыл бұрын
Hi! Could someone help me understand this please? I understand there is a crop factor due to the sensor but what does it mean exactly that it is a 42mm FOV but objects are represented in the 28mm focal length?? Is it that the lens captures less of the scene but more of the subject? Thank you
@chdezmtz2 жыл бұрын
@@jd5787 I have the exact same confusion. I guess it may be related to the distortion generated by wider lenses, but I'm not sure. Did you find an explanation about this?

Hi, thanks for the review. Can you recommend a similar "cheap" vintage lens of quality but with a focal length of 35mm for a full frame camera? And about this lense, does the quality change depending on the mount if everything else matches this lense description? Subscribed.

Just saw this video as I'm kind of debating if I want to go for a Nikkor 28mm AIS, Canon 28mm, Minolta or a Olympus Zukio. Assuming you have tried any of these in the same mm size, would you say the Vivitar has the best color rendition? I'm looking for character, realness, pop, and color. Thanks and nice work on the video!

Hi I just got this lens for my Canon 100D and got a cheap pens adaptor and the focus will only work at around 6”. Will this adaptor correct this and be a good quality? I have heard mixed reports of an FD adaptor on cannon so any advice would be appreciated. Your videos look great 😀👍

Hey thanks for asking! You can look at both of these and I believe they should do the trick! First check out the pixo mount adapter ring for FD - EOS and then have a look at the K&F FD -EOS ring, both will come in under 40$! Hope that helps and let me know which one you chose!!

I have the 24mm f2. Struggle with the focus more than some of my other vintage lenses. Any idea if the 28mm is a little sharper?
@Webecreators4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking! Just remember when opening up your aperture it does get more difficult to focus, maybe try a higher aperture, for landscapes I normally go up to f11 with an nd filter on, the 28mm in my opinion is a bit sharper yeah!!

We be creators you’re right it definitely sharpens when you stop down. I’m too used to MFT lenses being sharp wide open 🙈
@Webecreators4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's tricky sometimes, are you using a speed booster or adapter? But again the 28mm is quite easy to keep focus I actually used it a few times while I was making travel videos plus following shots, think at that time it was wide open!!!

I seriously have more of these than any other kind of lense - both 28mm and vivitar 28mm. I love the vivitar 28mm f2's - I have both the kiron and komine version. I also really like faster 35mm lenses but my equations are a bit different: 28mm x 2 x 0.7 means im getting roughly a 40/1.4 and my fastest 35mm becomes a 50/1.3

The only thing I would say is you gloss over the fact that it is tricky when it comes to using an FD to EOS Canon adapter. The adapters that use glass severely degrade the image.

Only 'field of view' of the 28mm = 42mm on APSC... All other optical characteristics will still be as a 28mm.
@Webecreators3 жыл бұрын
Please expand a bit more on this! As I understand the crop factor changes the field of view? 1.5×28mm =42mm on apsc since now it's much more zoomed/tighter?
