C40s are AWESOME. I had one of the latest version - the HP-Power B stay or whatever it was called exactly (with an odd diamond in the seat stay). Amazing bike. Nearly perfect. All I wanted different from it was to use wider tires. Wow I didn't know the first C40s had quill stems. That frame goes WAY back

I have a C40 HP (the more expensive model) in my garage with fairly modern Dura-Ace and will probably sell it this spring. It's such a beautiful frame that I hate to do it. I picked up the frame used in 2010 and can probably sell it for more than I paid for it, which is usual with classic Colnagos. Buying these old frames is not a bad spend if you pick the right models.

Being vintage, I assume the rear dropouts were 125mm. How did you fit the modern freehub in there or was it initallty 130mm?
@dabrestauracion74045 ай бұрын
Hello friend, no, the tips are 128 mm and the wheels are also 8 speeds, if I had gone to 9, 10 or 11, I wouldn't have to do anything either since there is a difference between 130 mm, so you don't have to do anything to install the wheels. Greetings and thank you for leaving your comment ; )

hi, friend!!! It seems that you don't know the history of this bicycle, I leave you a link so you can see that the first carbon bicycle that won the Paris Roubaix was the Colnago C40 with a Shimano Dura Ace group, it will be ugly but very reliable www.cyclingweekly .com/news/latest-news/icons-of-cycling-colnago-c40-191841 Thanks for leaving your comment friend; )

@@dabrestauracion7404 I actually own a Colnago C40 HP last gen and I have a 10 sp Record group set. I’m not interested at all in its history with Shimano as, like now, Shimano pays a lot of sponsorship money to be on all bicycles. It’s just a money thing not a reliability thing. I just hate Shimano. It’s ugly, it’s Japanese and it’s like a cancer spreading everywhere. Campagnolo is beautiful, it’s Italian and it totally outclasses Shimano. So, if you want to have a classy bike like a Colnago (or any Italian bike) you have to ditch Shimano a get Campy. Have you ever seen a Ferrari or a Lamborghini with a Nissan engine?
