I've been trying to find an old video of a guy who had a Soviet-made top loading washer with electronic controls which he restored with an Arduino based control and even integrated an OLED display.

А почему такой гул стоит? У нашей "Сибири" такой гул при работе центрифуги не стоял - разве что если крышку открыть.

Свист из-за того что бак круглой формы и отверстия только в низу корзины центрифуги. Если бы было 2-3 отверстия в стенке корзины центрифуги на расстоянии 10-15мм от дна, то гула бы не было, таким образом проблема с гулом была решена в ЗВИ.

I'm not sure because it's just too old. It was 42 years old when I was filming. And was pretty heavily used all the time. Nobody of the owners remembered how it was performing in the beginning. As far as I know they're using a modern boring automatic machine for about seven years. But this thing stays in reserve and waits. Hope they aren't going to throw it away. O, and centrifuge's "suspension" was modified: there were three steel springs centering it's axle but allowing it to lean away when load is asymmetric. But the amplitude was too big so guys just swapped springs with some sort of rubber strips which are a lot stronger than those springs. (Just didn't have springs of the right length and force, so rubber was chosen as it allows to easily cut a "spring" of any length). After that, amplitude of centrifuge's vibrations on low frequencies (I think below 1000 rpm when starting up or stopping) became a lot smaller. Not sure if this modification actually somehow affected the sound.

Она самая. Надо будет как-нибудь покачественнее ее снять, но пока что нет возможности - очень-очень далеко от нее. Даже рукоятки не показал. Но любимая игрушка в ней это центрифуга :)
