I LOVE videos like this one where you do some fabrication to fix up these vintage, classic toys! Nicely done already as usual! As I get older, I tend to like the look of the yellowing on some of the older toys. Kenner Star Wars toys, in particular, can look great with a bit of yellowing. That said, some of the toys like the Wampa, don't look as nice with heavy yellowing--especially if arms are yellow, but the torso isn't etc. I cleaned up a Wampa a few years ago that was VERY yellow. The Hydrogen peroxide and sun method worked well, but I gave it a second pass with Salon40, and that really did the trick. My Wampa has looked like a new Wampa now for about 4 years, and I'm very happy with that. I took an X-wing that looked very yellow and stained, and did wonders with it a few years ago. The canopy was intact, but very yellow, but I decided not to alter that, as I liked how the aging looked on it. To see where I started, Dave, if you're interested, just copy the following url fragments to the "www." and make the links: What it looked like when I started: lostonwallace.com/xwing1.jpg lostonwallace.com/xwing2.jpg lostonwallace.com/xwing4.jpg lostonwallace.com/xwing5.jpg Part of the clean-up: lostonwallace.com/xwing7.jpg lostonwallace.com/xwing8.jpg lostonwallace.com/xwing9.jpg Final: lostonwallace.com/finalxwing1.jpg lostonwallace.com/finalxwing2.jpg lostonwallace.com/finalxwing3.jpg lostonwallace.com/finalxwing4.jpg lostonwallace.com/finalxwing5.jpg As you can see, it was quite a transformation. Since I didn't have one in my collection, I wanted it to look nice. If I ever get an extra that's in such a state, I don't think I'd actually bother to whiten it at all. I'd just wash it down with soap and water, add some new stickers and parts and just enjoy the aged, weathered look.

It's a shame when there's toys like this which have such intricate parts like the wing assembly, where once it snaps it requires a heck of a lot of work to repair. I wish all toys had easily replaceable parts like the rubber bands in He-Man figures or the O-rings in GI Joe style figures. I love the idea of there being a modern replacement part that can replace and maybe even improve upon the original part, yet hidden away inside the toy where you'll never see it. Imagine if there was an axis part for wings that was made nowadays that was super reinforced, and could just be slotted in where the old one was.

I have just found your channel and thoroughly enjoyed watching the restoration. When you got to the part of putting the stickers on. I was transported back to Christmas days of the late seventies and early eighties it was my job to install all the stickers. The lads asked 'why are you washing the new parts dad' I explained that it would help them stay on better. My sons in their early fifties now still have their SW toys some forty five years later and the stickers are still on even after many space battles. Still having fun.

Constantly learning new things with each project you share with us. Thank you so much for all the hard work! I’ve been repairing some old toys and even scratch building some things myself lately, experimenting with making and printing out my own stickers, but haven’t found a nice sticker paper that prints as crisp as yours seem to turn out. I also can’t find a reasonably priced bottle of that brand of plastic weld here in the states, so I’ve been messing with a few alternative brands, with mixed results. All of which made me wonder what other sort of supplies and brands you have in your arsenal. Any chance for an updated supplies video on here or TP2? Keep up the awesome videos, you really are an inspiration!

Those are absolutely resin prints. They probably mixed in some tenacious resin with some clear abs resin which will give it both the flex and the slight discoloration.

Not exactly sure how to identify styrene plastic, I picked up a Hasbro Monster Face that has a crack that plastic weld should fix, but other than most whitish plastic I'm not sure which toys are styrene.🤔 I like the reinforcement additions, I've seen a few toys where I think I'll go ahead and beef them up rather than letting the original weakness break again. Wide flat pieces do bend a lot, in large sheet metal/plastic products they tend to add surface dimple patterns to counter that, don't think I've seen that practice much in toys. Been keen to get some vintage Kenner SW lately, hardly ever see it anymore in the wild though. People will probably get mad at me but I saw a Kenner AT-AT while visiting a thrift store a few years ago but didn't get it, it was so big that I didn't know where I'd put it lol. Quality repair TP it looks strong, interesting to see what 3D printing can offer to vintage toys.😉
