Montgomery Arnold I have one but it's in way better shape and it actually works without sounding possessed it sounds perfect! Mine sounds perfect!

That's the rubber O ring inside of the voice box, it's pretty much wearing away next to nothing and replacing the O ring is a pain in the balls because if you let go of the spring, then you have to get the right amount of tension on it again.
