Back in the early 80s my dad would use a potato digger just like that for his 7 acre crop and a gang of older school kids and family would pick them all up in baskets and tip them in trailer, don’t think that would happen now, especially the school kids working 🥴👍

Every grower in our area had JOHNSON/LATER Rnsomes hoover as they were nick named. we also lifted Parsnips with ours

What a pleasure to watch , we originally farmed 1000 acres but now down to 350 acres , il love watching how it used to be done , I was definitely born in the wrong era

Thanks Will it amazes me how effective some of my dads old machines are. I am sure we can’t go back but I think most people would agree there has been a bit of something lost with progress. Mike

What was the variety?

The potatoes are a variety called Melody. They seemed to do quite well given the lack of rain. They did get a bit of blight but not many tubers affected. They taste good as well.
