PS: 00:55 is When Everything Officially Changed And Became Wrong. When CTW switched from their Liberty Sign logo to the sparkler version, every single thing about them also changed, a lot of friends of mine who worked there lost their jobs, and the rise of Sesame Workshop, and Elmo, was IMMINENT.

I find it understandable that many find these old logos to be unsettling. They seem to come from a time in media production when they still believed in not only making their product memorable, but their very brand too. There's a progression to be noted in the music, first powerful orchestral strikes with horns and strings in the 50's. The 60's had more brass and wind sounds. The 70's saw the introduction of outlandish, mysterious, unusual synthesizer sounds (my personal favorite). The point of these logos was based on a bit of marketing and much more on simply to assert ones studio prowess. These had to be short, powerful, memorable. That meant going above and beyond the Pop song format and very quickly make viewers aware of your production company. I personally love all the variations and sound/graphic collages there have been over time like these. I was always in awe, wondering "how is THAT sound made?!" "Who drew that?" it's no wonder I now own a few synthesizers and meet up with my inner child often when I find a timber reminiscent of these vintage pieces. That inner child loved the stark white noise, drones, and intricate movement featured in the work of Worldvision, WGBH Boston, and Viacom logos.

I love CBS Special (BOBA FETT!!), CTW Snake's music is terrifying (the synth one, not the holiday one), CTW Sparks reminds me of Space Ghost (at least the "zap" near the end, the rest sounds like the microwave from Mappy), WGBH is fire, Hanna-Barbera is awesome and also reminds me of a certain V of Doom parody, and MTM is cute.
