Thank you so much for this Retro Steve it's funny but when my husband and me still call a snickers a marathon or opral fruits instead of starburst and our children and the grandchildren just laugh and say WHAT DID YOU CALL THEM LOL🤣🤣we think they were better the old way. Absolutely love the smarties ad Thanks again XCharlotte 🍫🍬😁😁♥️🙏

I'm gradually working my way through all of your videos (in whatever order KZbin decides to present them to me). What I like most about this one is the general theme of the adverts you've selected for this compilation. So many confectionery adverts try to be, or make the products seem, desirable or sexy or alluring or luxurious or (ick!) "aspirational". Whereas most of these fall squarely into "bloody weird", and are all the better for it 😆😁 I haven't thought about trinagular bees in decades, but I just know that's going to BEE in my head all day tomorrow.

Might be worth a look at the channel playlists. I've put every advert compilation into specific playlists in the order they were released. Incidentally, the "Nostalgic & Memorable" category catches any ads that didn't fit into other categories at the time. It's kind of the 'miscellaneous' category.

My favourite ice cream lolly in the early 70's was called "Wiz". "Wiz" had banana flavour on the outside with liquid toffee sealed inside and when the two flavours mixed together - WoW!

I don't remember the name Wiz, but I CAN remeber the lolly you're talking about so I must have had one. They were PROPER lush!! Sounds like you're probably a fan of Bannoffee flavour.

The late Trevor Bannister in the KP Crisps ad. Bounty bars were great and the 'Bounty Hunters' ads were terrific. Voiceover on the Dairy Milk ad is by Rodney Bewes who appeared in a few commercials. This 'Richard Taylor' ad first appeared in 1976. I used to adore 'Caramel' and 'Marathon'. 'Smiths Square Crisps: Billy & The Workmen' (1978/9) with Tommy Godfrey. Smarties ad is one of my favourites. Composed by Mike Batt - this is sung by Linda Lewis who worked with Batt at the time (1978). Fruit Jaspers voiced by Chris Tarrant. Love Feast - had a couple down South a couple of weeks back. Adorable ice cream lollies. Toberlone - such a memorable jingle. Sure I have some details of this somewhere. Peter Cooke & Mel Smith - Wispa (1991). 'Magnifico: Yacht' (1987/8) directed by Hugh Harkness and music by Howard Blake. Lila Pause was from The Netherlands. Actress looks familiar - this is was from 1989. Crunchie ad dates from 1987 - no idea who the actor is. Last ad is 'Quality Street: Hospital' (1988/9). Back later.😀

RixRADvidz. I used to buy Marathon from the tuck shop in my last school in 1968 and it cost 6d (pre-decimal) Many British confectionaries have gone through a name change when taken over by American companies and along with their new terrible flavours. Why don't companies that buy up other company’s products keep the same original ingredients?

I think Bounty has the distinction of being one of the only chocolate bars ever sold in both the UK and the US where they didn't change the name or the size, but they stopped selling them in the US in the mid 1990s. I wish I could find the Feast ice cream bar in the US. The US brand of the company still sells ice cream bars like it in the same form with different flavors, but I can't find that one. I wanted to try Quality Street once, but when I looked up the cost plus the delivery charge to the US, it was just scary.
@RetroSteveUK2 жыл бұрын
Quality Street has changed a lot though. There are better options out there now, imho.
