Currently owning 6 chistopol vostoks.. 3 new and 3 vintage,, cheap, rugged, tuff as old Russian army boots.. There a bit like "Marmite",, you'll I've love them or hate them..

vintage watches are great. the only potential problem with vintage watches is if the need for replacement parts arises. shouldn't be a problem with Russian watches vintage or otherwise since so many were made

The Soviet quality proof seal is highly desired for those of us that collect old Russian watches. The seal really was deceiving, as many goods bearing the CCCP pentagon were actually terrible. But the symbol now has so much nostalgia.

@@369168 True, but if I get it pressure tested and serviced it should be fine though? A dealer told me that the crown gaskets are non-replaceable, but I don't know if that's true or not.

AFAIK, as far as the replacement of crown gaskets is concerned, the entire crown is usually replaced

I'm not whether this is standard practice or not, but during the service of some of my other watches ( non Russian) I don't recall a crown gasket replacement per se but instead a complete crown replacement.
