is there a part 2. I have that model fan and would like to restore it as well. I am really needing help with the wiring. I bought this for cheap it had no wires. Thanks in advance.

My head wire (3 wire) had the third wire looking like it wasn’t attached to anything but covered with black material that burnt and had it sitting against one of the coils. Am I missing something? I’m trying to replace the head wire but can’t figure out how to attach the third wire.

How old are these? I have one and I am curious as to what year they date back to. They are so incredibly powerful!

Here in Brazil, Eletromar have produced between 1950's to 1970's an improved model, of this fan, officially licensed by Westinghouse, but with all parts produced in Brazil. Eletromar versions used stator models with speed coil and without speed coil,both fans with two speeds.

That's a newer PowerAire! It was one of Westinghouse's best model.

benson41011 Hey thanks for the info. I'm not surprised people say this is the best model, I love it the most of all my vintage fans, it moves so much air for its size and noise level. Also, an update on this fan should be coming soon!

I'm having an issue with my fan. It worked before I took it apart to clean it, but now it won't spin. I can turn it manually while it's off, but I can't turn the blades it while it's on. It's like the electromagnet in the rotor is not the correct polarity or something

How do you get the bottom off? The little rubber base pieces, do they unscrew or do you pull them straight off to remove the bottom plate?
@Thetubeamper6 жыл бұрын
The fan is currently in storage, so I can't say for sure, but I do think that those little feet do unscrew to remove the bottom plate.

How did you get the back of the motor housing off? it appears that your's was also "stamped". I'm debating on cutting along the seam with my dremel. any help would be great! thanks

There's two screws that are inside two holes, one on each side of the fan that go from the back of the fan, to the front. Just look directly at the back of the fan (blades pointed away from you) and you'll see the two screwholes opposite of each other. Just remove those two screws and you should be able to pull the whole back housing back toward you, and then up and over the oscillator knob. Hope that helps!

i have one with a stripped oscillator gear what can i do?
@Thetubeamper8 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I don't think there's much you can do, other than just finding another of the same model of fan. At least this fan isn't the most rare, so you should be able to find another if you try.
@metashifter8 жыл бұрын
If its like mine then its just cast bakelite, a very simple plastic material, or something similar. If you can find an intact gear then it won't be hard to make a new one, or to use the old one to mold the teeth.

where did you get the repo head cord?
@Thetubeamper9 жыл бұрын
triverman There's a user on eBay by the name of "albino999" who has a store on eBay (Snake Head Vintage) that has every type of reproduction cloth covered cord you can imagine, almost any color/color combo, and both 3 wire (like I have in the video) and the twisted 2 wire cord that many others use. I do highly recommend buying from them, I've made several purchases and had no issues. Thanks for watching by the way :)

Also putting a ground on the fan is a waste of time. This is a 3 wire head system.
@Thetubeamper Жыл бұрын
Can you elaborate as to why it being a three wire head makes it useless to have the chassis grounded?
@dondrapper7165 Жыл бұрын
Because it came from the factory without a ground wire and it does not need a ground wire unless you fucked up the wiring. Now you have to use a 4 wire for the head and have a shit hole ground on the plug that looks like shit does nothing and you have to find 4 strand wire. You can find it but its so not necessary. I have fans from the 1800s and we in the fan collectors groups do not try to re-engineer them. If you are that scared of these fans maybe its not for you.
@Thetubeamper Жыл бұрын
@@dondrapper7165 I hear you. I never did/nor did I intend on getting a four core wire to run the ground up to the head separately. I just was trying to err on the side of better safe than sorry, as far as the ground and three prong plug goes, I just figured should the old insulation ever degrade or the windings burn out, at least it'll have a path to ground. Either way, it is better than having a broken fan, or one re-wired with a lamp cord like most people do. I do also have a tiny Polar Cub fan from the 20s or 30s, and that I put a reproduction cloth covered twisted pair cord on, with what I believe is the original 2 prong plug.
