Ah yes the Zebco 33 Spinner what a reel they are. When I seen that reel you instantly trannsported me back to 1956 using my Dads 33 Spinner attached to a Shakespere Fiber Glass Wonder rod. Using Dads rod and reel was a reward for good behaviour to use just for a few hours. Ah heavens yes the GOOD OL QUALITY DAYS. Back when stuff was made not throwed together. I have the rod I had a Ol Gentleman by thename of Pop Casto put new eyes on it for me. The ol ones I still have Pop was a master at his craft and also made some very good spinners and trout lures. I have one of Pops still in the package never useda gift from him his self. Feller keep doing what we love to see you do. As I get older I appreciate seeing the things you do. God Bless and stay safe .

Hey there!! I love the the old Zebcos but they will make you get creative and change your technique, lol. I very seldom use the vintage rods unless they’re In extremely good shape. The reels are what I truly love seeing out there again. My Dad was NOT a fisherman. My Mother got me started with a hand me down Zebco of some model and another hand me down Abumatic 120. From there, I taught myself. I was laughed at when I showed up at the water with my 120 but I knew how to catch a fish, which caused the laughing to stop😉. When I started buying new modern equipment, it almost felt too easy😂. I still have one of my original saltwater rods that I paid $8 for in the mid 70s. It’s going to make an appearance one of these days. I love using the old stuff and I’m glad to see there’s others, like yourself, that like seeing the vintage equipment saved and back out there fulfilling their duties. I very much appreciate you watching and commenting!! And I mean that from the bottom of my vintage heart😄. More to come!! Thanks again my friend, Willie

😃Thanks!! There’s a different level of excitement when your fishing with the relics.. There’s also a different level of disappointment when you lose a big one on a relic😄. Thanks for watching and commenting!! I appreciate it!! Willie

Ah yeah, good ol Zebco. The only fishing equipment I've ever owned were a Zebco 33 and a Zebco 202. I haven't been fishing in years, but it's fun watching you!

Hey Phil!! It might be fun watching me but it isn’t always fun being me😂. It’s hard work being “Willie Gray the fishin’ guy”🤣. I love using the old stuff. The challenge of not only using it but getting it to function well enough to use. It’s a huge relief when that first fish is landed. Thanks for watching Phil I appreciate you, hope you’re doing well my friend. Willie

@@murrayclaus3595 They’re fun to use.. Very rare to have an issue with one.. it has happened but it is rare.. luckily there’s so many out there.. I find Zebco reels almost every time I go out to the flea markets and antique stores.. That means parts will always be easy to find!! Thanks for watching!! Willie

I don't know if you ever tried a Zebco Super 22, but that would be a cool old reel to try. The mechanics of casting it are the same as the Zebco 11. I'd gladly send you one.
@TheGraytOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Hey Dan! I’ll have to look into that Super 22. Since I’m terrible with a bait caster. I’m not sure I’d be a good with it at all😂.
@ddselvig Жыл бұрын
@@TheGraytOutdoors They are more like a spincast reel than a bait casting reel. Because the crank handle doesn't turn during the cast the only resistance on the line is the rotor, and that is negligible.

1970s zebco 33s are all I use. They are tanks, never foul up, and are easy to field strip if they do need to be worked on. Hell, if they start reeling rough, you just dunk it in water.

Lol 😂, exactly! I was very unhappy that I didn’t get to catch anything on the Classic but it’s fixed now and once again ready to go back to work. That could be in the very near future.. I’ve got a hook and a bobber with its name on it!! I’ve owned soooo many Zebcos!! The silver 33 in this video was actually shipped off to Arizona to a good friend of mine who is preparing to use it as we speak. I had another identical to it. But you can’t beat the old fellas!! Zebco, Johnson, and The Abumatics are my favorites!! At least one or two of them go with me on every outing!! Thanks so much for watching in commenting. I truly appreciate it, Willie

Great video, Willie! Except for the Classic, the reels seemed to work really well, and you did land some nice bass, and I agree the big one that came off at the deck is definitely a fishing fact! Keep up the great content, I always enjoy your videos, take care and be safe.

Hey CJ! I used those Classic a lot in the 80s, not gonna say they were they greatest spin cast reels on the shelf😂. However, it’s fixed for now and “maaayyybbbeee” at some point it’ll get another chance at it.. There’s one more reel from the Classic Series that I don’t have. The “ONE” Classic. “One” day I’ll find “ONE”😄 and I’ll have the entire group. Then maybe I’ll go back and try to catch the “ONE” that got away! Thanks for watching CJ!! Willie

We like to use any vintage pushbutton that I can get to work and presently use mostly Zebco although I do have that Shakespeare I previously mentioned in your last video. Sorry about the Classic and it's good that you had the part needed. Regarding solid fiberglass rods . . . I remember that back in the 50's my father had a several, but one that caught my eye was a square (not round) one, white about 5 ft. long with cork handle. It was probably something he got as a promotion item. I would sure like to have that one to use today! Keep going with the great videos and we hope you get not 2 more but 12 thousand more subscribers.

Hey there! For me, these old push button spin casters take me back to a place I’ve already been but was 50+ years younger. My Mother put a fishing rod in my hand when I was a tiny child. It was a Zebco of some make or model and when I kept wanting to fish, she borrowed an Abumatic 120 from a relative that I used for a very long time. So I have a soft spot for spin casts, little ponds, and panfish. Specifically bluegills. I owe it all to my Mom. That white rod you’re speaking of sounds interesting, I’ll definitely keep my eyes open for something like that. I’ve seen “metal” rods that were octagonal looking. I truly appreciate you watching and commenting, it means a lot!! Thank you so much!! Willie

Hey there! I’ve always got my eyes open. I can go through an antique mall faster than the speed of sound because I’m a “scanner”… and those green reels jump out at me like mad bees. I see the Zebcos more than I see any other company but I still can’t leave them behind if the price and model is right. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it!! Willie

Very good repinion video. I enjoy all of your Zebco and Honda Monkey content. And today I learned about Zero Hour Bomb Company! Great video! Ever pair grape crush with a moon pie?

Hey there!! Thanks so much!! I very much appreciate it! I don’t rehearse anything, I literally turn the camera on and whatever comes out is what you guys get😄. If I teach someone something, it’s truly by accident but I love for people to see that these reels may be old but they still have life left in them. I’m not the great historian but there’s things like “Zero hour bomb company” that I found incredibly interesting and I just thought others would as well. But that’s just my Repinion😂. I LOVE banana moon pies!!😳 And I may have to blend them together sometime, very soon (spoiler) 😉 Thanks for watching and commenting, I truly appreciate it!! Willie
