Ustad Vilayat Khan's performance is transcendental. He is jolly good player! I was introduced to his record in 1978, while living and working in Norway. Once you start listing you don't feel like stopping! What a perfection.......

He was scary. So totally in control at the same time, breaking into song, chatting with friends in the audience, telling them to listen to a particularly good bit, but always at the highest levels of musical expression. From time to time, he would get into a trance; at those times, to be in the audience was truly to be in heaven. He was a feature of the performances at Mahajati Sadan. Bengalis loved him; he was as much Bengali as anything else; he loved them back, almost literally, as those who know his personal life will readily agree.

Everyone should listen to Indian Classical Violin Recital by Dr. N.Rajam, a great personality and an accomplished musician indeed... Her morning raga recital of raag Bhairavi on Jogi Mat Ja is recommended from my side....do listen to it.....Her Raag Darbari made a coma patient come out of Coma, truly miraculous.
