So it's for the 180mm flywheel? Or was it just that the older 6V flywheel has different # of teeth then the 12V?

Thank you. I'm feeling foolish! I purchased it because I need to set Crank Shaft end play. I saw a couple of KZbins (for nearly 50 years I have just been using the same air impact, Chicago Pneumatic, with shop air set to 100 PSI and kinda went by the Old Mechanics feel). Now I see this multiplier tool works on axle nuts too. Awsome! And the torque specs are right on the tool. I'm really glad I purchased this tool if for no other reason that sometimes it is nice NOT to use my air tools. VWs now are my Zen and not my work... Thanks again for another great KZbin.

Thanks as always for the demo. I think I heard from another person who makes youtube videos for VWs that one should never back off of the torque in order to fit the cotter pin. I don't know. I did exactly what you did last time I torqued the nut. I backed off a little in order to fit the cotter pin. About the electric impact wrench. I had to buy the Bauer one from Harbor Freight to remove the nut on the back of the alternator. I tried with a breaker bar and double nutted the front but just couldn't get it. About 30 seconds of using the electric impact wrench and the nut came right off. Too bad I couldn't rent it somewhere. Anyway, nice job. Keep 'em coming.
@SladesVWBeetle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Ken, I truly appreciate that. The only reason I truly backed off a little bitwaa because that electric impact gun put it very tight. All sincerity I should’ve loosened, and re-tightened with a torque wrench. But I got lazy, which is not smart. Yeah the electric impacts are much stronger than they were years ago. I was surprised since it came from Harbor freight. I rented one about three years ago and I and up costing me $30 for the day. So for another $10 I finally bought one.

Hello, Slade. For Bugs with CV joints, the torque spec for the rear wheels and the flywheel are the same-253 ft. lbs. I have the TorqueMeister tool. Best VW tool, ever. I set my torque wrench to 28 ft. lbs, which gives me 252 ft. lbs. Then I add a teeny hair more to get my 253. I only paid $69.95 for mine, but I bought it eight years ago-neener, neener, neener. However, I’d pay the price you’re paying today if I didn’t have one already.
@SladesVWBeetle3 жыл бұрын

Great demo and video. Tip on lining up the cotter key; only tighten to line up the holes. If necessary, you can loosen and re-torque and then tighten just a bit more to line up the holes if necessary.

Yes absolutely! I was pretty much showing the torque tool. I used my electric gun first. I had no idea it had that much torque. 😳 Afterwards I loosened and retorqued. Thanks for commenting!!!

Another great video Slades. You know you are old school when you pull out a corded impact wrench 😂. The Harbor Freight impacts are my preferred ones actually I’ve got their Earthquake line and using them as a professional mechanic like me they are excellent and work nicely I have the power tools and air tools. For the axle nuts I always use an impact or breaker bar. I am too cheap to buy the tool even though I want more tools. Keep up the good work and videos. I always love finding out what the next video will be when I see the notifications.

Hey Blake, I hope you are doing well. I got used to seeing your name come up on all the videos I appreciate you being part of the community. OK now it’s my turn for a question, how do you like the earthquake line??? I keep looking at all of them. But I never go by reviews online because you never know what to believe. Thank you so much for being here.
@blakewaddell4513 жыл бұрын
@@SladesVWBeetle Thanks Slades. The Earthquake are amazing just used my air impact one on my Escape today because I had to replace the ABS tone ring so I used it to take the axle nut off it knocks those babies off with no fight or struggle it never disappoints. Also it’s never failed me either I just oil it before each use and it appears to be doing great. I’ve used one of the battery powered ratchets from them too and it’s excellent as well honestly I prefer it over my Milwaukee I’ve actually talked many of my coworkers into getting them. I think my next buy is going to be one of the stubby impacts I feel it will come in handy for many tighter spots. I’d also like to have one of their air ratchets too since I have the impact gun. Definitely worth getting if you need some that’s for sure. I’ve used mine daily since August when I first got them.
@SladesVWBeetle3 жыл бұрын
I’m definitely going to buy a few of their products. When I first noticed they were Harbor freight, I was reluctant. I kept watching reviews on the earthquake, and everybody seems to really like them. My tools don’t get used as an every day mechanic like when I was at it for a living. But I still like stuff that works well, and has some power behind it.

But we definitely aren’t at -35. 😳 I can’t imagine how much your furnace is running. I need to get on your channel and catch up, it has been so hectic for me. Hi Slade, like you I used a breaker bar and a 6 ft pipe for years. I broke a 1/2 breaker bar and got a new one from Sears since it was a craftsman. But I got a 3/4 breaker bar which wouldn't break. I didn't know about this tool. Pretty cool. I can't remember does VWS have reverse thread on hub nuts on the opposite side?
@jerrywickham90123 жыл бұрын
That reverse thread is only for the driver's side front. That is so the speedometer cable doesn't come loose.

HELP Slade. I have a torque multiplier on the way, should be here soon. I have a problem, I think. I replaced my rear drivers brake cylinder this evening. The drum and axle would turn before I removed the nut. I took the shoes out, cleaned the adjusters, etc. Put in the brake cylinder, and when I put the drum back on, I cant get the drum or axle to rotate, by hand. The brake shoes are loose so I know that's not the problem. Drum will slide right on and off. What the heck have I done now Slade? Car is in neutral. Passenger side turns fine. Probably something stupid. I quit on it for the night. Its a 72 Super Beetle.
