The comments about William Shatner aren't fair. Leonard Nimoy died on February 27th 2015, and his funeral was held just 48 hours later, on the 1st of March. The Jewish faith, which Nimoy was a follower of, says the dead should be buried within 24 hours. The only reason it waited 48 hours was because the 28th was a Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath, and the practice is prohibited on a Saturday. So Nimoy was cremated at 9am on the Sunday morning. Shatner had committed to a Red Cross charity ball in Florida on the Saturday night, so could not get back to L.A. in time for the 9am service. He paid tribute to Leonard at the charity ball, and in response to online criticism for not pulling out of the event he Tweeted "I feel really awful. Here I am doing charity work and one of my dearest friends is being buried. I chose to honour a commitment I made months ago to appear at a charitable fundraiser. A lot of money was raised. So here I am; tell me off. So my daughters Melanie and Lisabeth are attending Leonard's services." imho, he did the right thing by choosing to help the living. Spock would've appreciated the logic of it. Funerals aren't really for the deceased person - they're dead, after all, so they're past caring one way or the other. Funerals are for the benefit of those who are left behind; to help them to formally close a chapter, and move on. Anyone judging Shatner on how he chose to handle the death of his friend is kinda missing the point.

I met Joanna Lumley once when I was about 13 yrs old and she was absolutely fabulous! Excuse the pun. She was doing a piece to camera in what used to be called Chessington zoo (England) she stopped working for 5 mins and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and talked to me for a few minutes. There is another example of Australians "punishing" celebrities who are abusive. Look up the story of Frank Sinatra being in Australia for a concert tour. A female reporter was, to be honest, too rude and aggressive in pushing Frank Sinatra for an interview - but he was horrible to her, called her a "c-#-n-t" - and the Australians would not refuel his plane and let him leave Australia until he apologized. I love love love Frank Sinatra - but I do think he should have been nicer to the lady reporter, even if she was too pushy about getting a interview.

I'm sick of Bing getting a bad rap off of old debunked rumours. People need to read all the more recent info that show that Gary did not really write THAT book but also couldn't remember some of the more salacious stories in it...he had been drinking throughout that period. Was Bing a disciplinarian YES...was it to the extent in the sons book NO. Did he work with his sons, give them substantial trust funds at 21, get them jobs, buy them houses..cars bail them out of indiscretion after indiscretion YES. Were they receiving money to help them after Bing had passed YES, money that came from Dixie and Bing and was invested for the boys. Was Bing dealing with a monumental career and away from home a lot YES, did he have a gorgeous wife that battled her own personal issues and addictions that he tried to help her with whilst shielding his boys from the problems YES. Was he a perfect father NO, did he adore his boys YES. Maybe if people read the interviews, the newer books, the comments from his other sons defending Bing and all of the rumours proven to be BS about Bing, they would open up to just what this man did for many many many people. But sadly people seem to cling to two books that are not only debunked but one that is so full of half truths and no truths, the main source wrote his own journal as he was furious at the distortions and rubbish that was written.

Bing Crosby was a good man who has borne the brunt of his reputation being dragged thanks to two books released after he passed. More recently it has been shown that Gary not only didn't really write the book, but also couldn't recall some of the more salacious parts in it....he was reinterviewed in 9 hrs of taped conversations in which he was challenged with parts of the book vs the interviewers research. He had been drinking during this period and it's interesting to read how the book was pieced together. The other book was shown to be so full of half truths and NO truths that one of the main sources wrote his own journal to counteract the stories, as he was furious at the distortions made. Bing's daughter met with her stepbrother after the books release in which he explained to her "it wasn't really how it happened" and WHY parts were made more salacious, she was appalled.

The animosity from the Star Trek cast against Shatner were due to their jealousy. To this day, Takei still holds a grudge against Shatner for no reason other than Shatner is 1000% more popular than he is. He hates Shatner so much that he brings him up in every interview he makes. Shatner gets a bad rap. Most actors who have worked with him only had good things to say like Brent Spiner, Patrick Stewart, the Boston Legal Cast, TJ Hooker Cast to name some. Also shockingly Shatner wasn't the only one to get hate from the TOS cast so did Nimoy. Shatner and Nimoy did a documentary together called Mind Meld it was just them talking about their lives and their friendship. Shatner brought up the hate he got from certain cast members and it perplexed Leonard and he told stories of dislike he got also from them. Shatner later said in the Documentary that they never understood that while doing TOS him, Nimoy, and Deforest worked every day Monday thru Friday up to 12 hours a day because they were in damn near every scene and this formed a bond. While the rest of the cast sometimes only worked 2 or 3 days a week because they weren't needed. As for Nimoy's funeral watch the Documentary Leonard's son did about his dad and he asked the actors to describe Leonard in one word Bill said love and there was much emotion in it a mix of pain and love and it was real. Because frankly Bill's not that good of an actor. 😂

William Shatner missed Leonard Nimoy’s funeral because the Jewish tradition is to bury the dead within 24 hours. Shatner was scheduled for a fund-raiser and he tried to get the family to postpone but they couldn’t. He could not back out on the fundraiser as a charity group would have really lost out and they were very much depending on him. It stinks that this is still being reported this way all these years later. Not going to the funeral was a sacrifice he did for the good of others. He would have loved to have been there.

My favorite actress was Lucille Ball - I read about Richard Burton's comments that she was a monster. The Burtons asked Lucy to be on her show and they were paid more than any body ever - However Burton was an alcoholic - showed up late, did not know his lines and resented her when she called him out - he was incensed that a tv person should correct the great Burton. In his later pictures he had to be seated or lying down during rehearsals - too drunk to stand up. (He died at 58 due to alcoholism). Lucy starred in and produced The Lucy Show, while raising two youngsters, and running Desilu Studios. Also, she had people working for her for decades writers, co-stars etc since her days in radio in the late 1940's. If she were that terrible - don't believe she would have had that kind of loyalty. Also, she had a lot on her plate in those years - and broke a lot of ground for females. She was a perfectionist and put a lot into her work - and had loyalty and friendships in the field . Also Lucy was famous for being very generous with her fans - Also, re Lucille Ball's perfectionism - her shows are still watched today more than 70 years in re-runs. I feel like an apologist for her - having read several very good books and watched documentaries about her life - She did not like flying - was somewhat claustrophobic - which became more intense the older she got - so the comments about not speaking to the personnel on the plane - probably had more to do with her phobias and not about being above speaking to the help. (Her "help" : driver, maid, handyman she has long term very positive relationships with.)

Do you also know that Gary was interviewed in 9 hrs of taped conversations in which he was challenged regarding certain parts of his book with research the interviewer had done. Verified by the co-author when contacted and interestingly how the book was pieced together, Gary didn't even really write his own book. Which ties in with what he told Mary, what his ex-wife commented on and even what another relative spoke about in which two versions of the book existed. One not interesting enough, the other juiced up for sales. Yes Mary was his only daughter, BUT the main difference in the two families was Bings career was winding down and he spent vastly more time with his second family and his second wife did not suffer the same demons his beautiful first wife did. I have read about others who witnessed Bing and the boys with Bing noted as being strict but also adoring his sons and spoiling them rotten. If you also read other comments from those close, Gary's book caused somewhat of a rift between himself and the other three sons who all gave quotes defending their father.

Both in their fifties...one early, one mid...Bing and Dixie had put substantial trust funds away for each son which they received at 21...Dixie left money to each son and Bing added to it...this money was invested and the boys received money from those investments for years, long after both Dixie and Bing passed. After the investments went bust the youngest suicided. Two years later one of the twins. Both had addictions, relationship and financial issues. Nothing as it turns out to do with Bing who thought his boys were financially taken care of. Even Desi and Lucy's children have spoken out about their parents since both are long dead. Apparently, Lucille was quite a handful. She was always alienating their co-stars, and the directors and writers on the show. Desi was in constant crisis mode because of her. Their children don't make any bones about who the real talent in the family was, either. According to them, Lucille was a competent actress, but she had no sense of humor. Not a funny bone in her body. And you can see that in her appearances on talk shows and other non-scripted appearances. Desi used to make a film of each scene in every show, where he played Lucy Ricardo opposite William Frawley and Vivian Vance. Lucy would watch the films and analyze what Desi was doing and simply mimic him.

- I read or watch everything about Desi and Lucy their children have said. Never heard Desi Jr criticizing his mother. Years ago Lucie would complain that her mother was a perfectionist at home, said it a critical way. But in recent interviews she has altered her opinion saying her mother had to be that way in order to run her shows, Desilu Studio and home. Lucie Arnaz has commented that she sees and understands more now than earlier. Desi was an addict before : women, booze and gambling - before he met Lucy, during their marriage and afterwards. His 2nd wife almost divorced him for the same reasons,. Lucy did not drive him into it - Desi's "crisis mode" was getting what he wanted whenever he wanted it. He even admitted that he never learned to do anything in moderation. Lucy was tougher on set after Desi and she divorced - she was doing it all and had to be. Desi was acting in and producing the show a few years - and a few years ran Desilu. Lucy was acting in a producing shows longer than he as well as ran Desilu very competently. Lucy bought Desi out from Desilu when it was losing money (Desi's drinking effected his great abilities) Lucy sold Desilu for 17 M Lucille Ball knew Gale Gordon, Jess Oppenheimer and writers from radio in the late 1940's. They all continued with her for decades.

Yeah, I saw an interview where Lucy Arnaz said her mother was always working even when home, wasn't present. But Desi always spent time with them and would comment on the beauty of nature like a sunset! He appreciated the little things in life and he had flaws but they both seemed to appreciate their Dad. Kids remember these things not how much money spent on them!! Moral of story always be present for your kids!!🤔

@@angela77991 Yes, I saw that on the home movies - think when the children were with their father Lucy was taking the movies. However, the real problem when they were young, Desi was not home a lot - often out with a string of prostitutes and slept in various places. Or out drinking heavily with friends and staying over on his boat. It was more like he could be a playful Dad when he was there, but was not there very often if all the reports were true in the documentaries that by 1955, Desi was drinking heavily from 10am onwards. The children were unaware of these things - it was almost like he was on older brother who could be playful and fun - then off doing his own thing.
