Very cool! LIke your 'K' at the end... and near the end where you stuck it in the bench reminded me of a Diresta move...love it! joe

Great looking knife. I feel like i'm the only one who hasn't made a marking knife. I should probably get on that.
@VintageWoodWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
+Kaged Creations Thanks, yeah I've been doing a bathroom remodel and went through a few sawzall blades so this was a fun way to re-purpose one of the broken blades. Now I'm looking forward to using it for more hand work...

Was the blood on your thumb @ 5:03 from when the blade spun? That sucks, been there...

A marking knife ( kiridashi ) is only bevelled on one side .
@Rollmops946 жыл бұрын
Nothing is anything. A one bevelled knife obviously makes sense though, as it makes it easier to be precise whenever you outline a three dimensional shape.

Now I want to make one. I am very interested in making a single beveled Japanese knife someday. What was the finish on the handle?
@VintageWoodWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
+Sighthound Studio Thanks, boiled linseed oil which I really like on all my handles

Why in such a hurry?

What kind of drill bit did you use for that steel?
@VintageWoodWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Kenneth Varney nothing special, just an old American made bit I had....cut through pretty easily suprisingly
@swartpeter59956 жыл бұрын
great job! do you still have all your fingers after that drilling episode? please use your other tools I have seen some nasty accidents. were you in a hurry to make this knife? I'm not trying to "dad" you, just a kind suggestion okay....
@VintageWoodWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
Swart Peter hi, thanks. I wasn't in a hurry, just made a stupid mistake and luckily just a scratch this time

Cool knife! I wonder if you can harden the blade? I think they harden the teeth on the blades when they make them.
@VintageWoodWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Tom's Dreamshop Worx thanks! I bet I could. I haven't gotten into annealing and all that yet but this seems to keep the edge pretty well. I want to try some blacksmithing at some point and learn all about that. hey check out the essential Craftsman's video on forging a knife from a cable, really awesome!
