Sean has sold a lot of Vipers but never this many at the same time. Even though the factory told him it was impossible, he was determined to find a way. Photo credit @dynamicphotowerks

I'm not sure what's better - the feeling of closing a 6 viper sales deal, or the smugness of winning it over from the trash-talking dealer.

Doing something that's never been done before on the platform you focus on everyday was the big win for me. Forget the sale and the other dealer,. Being able to say "we did it" was the best part of the experience without question.

take what i'm about to say with a grain of salt but when i worked at a GM dealership the salesmen made a shit ton more on a used car than they did a new car. not saying the price range is the same between a cruze and a viper, but it might be a lot less than you think. i had a friend sell a certified pre owned c6zr1 corvette and he made a down payment on a house with what he made on that sale.
@edwardgoodsmith1069

Margins tend to be far higher on used vehicles. I'd imagine the Viper (especially limited run versions) carries some sort of special compensation/commission plan with it. The dealership's incentive to sell Vipers isn't on margin so much as it is prestige/attracting down-market buyers, I have no idea how they'd compensate a salesmen for this sale but I'm sure the fact that articles were written about it and the huge raise in profile given to the dealership (thus driving sales to the used cars/down market cars/higher margin vehicles)

Probably because some people misunderstood his post as blatant advertising on the forums for his dealership. See this a lot in FB owner groups when it comes to aftermarket parts vendors that happen to also be part of that community.

My problem with this is it's another salesman making promises before he knew for sure he could keep them. I'm glad it worked out and everyone was happy in the end, but promises were made that were very likely un-keepable. I'm a very patient and understanding person so If you're a salesman just give it to me straight. I'll be more upset if you blow sunshine up my ass and promises are broken than if you just say those requests can't be met. Again it's great that this all worked out in the end and everyone is happy. Even the photo shoot was a great marketing opportunity for the factory.
@atlantaviper
@atlantaviper 6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't have taken the orders knowing that it could not be done. Sometimes "no" is used when something is logistically complicated but not totally impossible, and people just don't want to invest the time to make it happen, so not offering them the opportunity to use that word just means we have to get creative in figuring out the "yes." Sometimes us car salesmen know what we're doing, and if we didn't, you wouldn't be watching awesome content on a channel like VinWiki.

I understand what you're saying, on the other hand, what was Chrysler going to do once he had the orders, deposits and commitments from 6 customers, tell them "No, sorry we're not going to sell you these cars?" that was never going to happen. They said no simply because it was complicated, and extra work and they thought that by saying "No" the customers would just buy the cars anyway. There was really very little risk here on the part of the salesman, he just had to get past some corporate drone who doesn't understand customer service.

So you ignore more than half the super cars of old then? Mid engine is pretty new comparatively. The ACR Viper is a super car. So is the C6 Corvette. All super cars are sports cars, not all sports cars are super cars. Also learn to use the edit function. Making 3 different posts, one right after the other, does not make you seem intelligent enough to be taken seriously, much like your ignorance of bitcoin in another post on this video.
