The brilliance of Star Guitar video is that it is NOT just a train moving through a landscape. The landscape changes with the music. 4 hi hats is 4 bridges passing, 4 bass kicks is 4 houses for example. Great video!

‘Indie Stadium Rock’ is quite a good description of The Church. Apparently in Australia they were a super big stadium band in their heyday. I love them. Know what you mean about that Regret sleeve artwork. Nothing like the earlier Peter Savile sleeves. Being Boiled, absolutely fantastic. Hope you had a good night in that there London.

Hello there! I didn’t have you pinned as a Church fan, but yes I’m really enjoying, don’t normally go for those big reverbbed guitars.I’m a big fan of Saville, & I’m starting to warm to this period of his work. The ‘Getting Away With It’ sleeve for Electronic has really grown on me too.

Ray Readon, The FACE of snooker. Used to love it when he arrived on his scooter. He went onto great things in the Hammer house of horror films. Regret on 12, wonderbar. 4yrs of drugs will do that for the album. Boiled maxi, ok. and a nice bit of Star guitar. I am looking forward very much to your Tina Turner tribute ; ) cheers

Ha, ha.Tbh despite being a bit of a soul boy in my teens, I was never a Tina & Ike fan, although I remember many a Northern Soul night at Verdi’s In Weymouth( did you ever go there?)dancing up a storm to ‘Dust My Broom’ Typically of me I actually quite enjoy her 80’s fluff, but then I am someone who believes Dionne Warwick’s ‘Heartbreaker’ & ‘All The Love In The World’ are the high points of eighties music...so I do have a bit of form in this area!

@@Harrispilton22 I didn't go to Verdi’s In Weymouth but then again I didn't like clubs much back then (way too unsociable). I do remember a very busy Jobcentre there though! Hi Harris - Welcome to the second tier. Everyone will look forward to playing Southampton away in that magnificent stadium. Can't wait to see Man City ..Liverpool playing away at Luton Town ! I worked for Arista in the mid to late 80's & marketed Starfish & Under The Milkyway was an unexpected massive hit & the album went Gold. Nice guys who surprised me with a Gold record for my efforts. Love that Fall 10" it was my introduction to them. Claire Grogan was cute in indie film Gregory's Girl from my teen years.

Ha,ha I’ve watched Gregory’s Girl a thousand times. Can repeat every line! What a great story about The Church, & what a wonderful gift for you! Yes looking forward to locking horns with the mighty Canaries again David. Yeah Luton’s a strange ground, although they were a top division team all through the eighties, they had the infamous plastic pitch. I remember going there and you walk through someone’s back-garden to get in the away end! Although our ground in the eighties The Dell wasnt much better, I think we had two toilets for 22000 fans, hence why it was quite common to have someone urinating on you in the stands! 😆 Happy times!

May I be the first VC member on this Sunday morning to say hello and great to see you back Harris. Real quickly. I thought of a few VC members instantly when I heard about the too early passing of the great Andy Rourke. You were one of the people that I thought of. I was going to send out a few quick comments. But I started doing something and did not keep my word. He was a brilliant bass player with some of the eighties most memorable melodic bass lines. Even Moz stepped up and spoke nicely of him which was necessary. >< Starfish is one heck of an album. I could go on for five lines about that band during that period of their career. Brilliant. Did you get the one after it Gold Afternoon Fix. Also Priest = Aura was good too. Have to run out. Wish that I could stay. But I got to do a few yards today. Catch up soon HP. Will try to see the rest of this one this evening~ Rob/Boston

Hey Rob, yes very sad about Andy Rourke. I think for him & Marr ‘Meat Is Murder’ album really showcased both their talents, I think the production really helped. I could listen to "Starfish" every single day. Truly brilliant! I always thought people in the U.S. were the only people who said Oasis sounded like the Beatles (which seriously bothered my nerves) Yes, it's jangly! Yes, they have accents! Yes, they compared themselves to the Beatles! And yes, finally, someone knows what they are talking about! They are more like Slade or T Rex (with a Beatles influence which one could find in Kiss if one were looking). Grrrrrr . . . Nice finds! No music during Cricket season - got it! And cheers!

I recently bought a 12” single and my first thought was I have become a Harris Pilton Wanna be! It was The Screaming Blue Messiahs doing I Want To Speak American. I love that group. I have gotten really into The Fall, I had to turn 60 to finally get them, some of us are just a little slower. I watched Cricket a few times, still not sure what the hell was going on. Maybe I should have worn white?
@Harrispilton22 Жыл бұрын
Very nice with the 12” Steve! You could become a Harris Pilton tribute act. Maybye consider calling yourself Paris Hilton! Screaming Blue Messiahs had a big hit here called ‘I wanna Be A Flintstone’ Yes it’s not uncommon for men of a certain age to suddenly get into The Fall, but they are certainly an acquired taste.TBH Steve if you like The Fall, Cricket should be a breeze. A Teat Match goes on for 5 days , has a break every day for lunch & tea...& at the end normally ends in a draw (not a tie) .It’s a perfect metaphor for English life. 5 days of drinking,..&. Ultimately nothing much happens!
