If the job is going to be like the one that you see on this video and you don't have to remove anything in the ground is somewhat easy to work with you just setting posts in putting up the fence anywhere from 12 to $2,500 depending on the length of it but there are some variables you have to look at

JMS first thing is you need to lay it out properly you have to start out right with the post placement you need string lines there's other videos on how to to set your posts please read the directions intensely so when you do look at these videos and other people you will know what they're talking about I set my posts Within an inch to 2 inch of play in between the panels so I don't have to cut any panels I don't have to to do any other make it fit kind of things but for somebody just starting out you need to get these posts straight up and down and make sure that she gets cement in the middle of them when you put them in the hole so please check some other videos on setting posts it take too long for me to explain how to do that but you want to go down 18 in in your hole and at least two bags of Kwikset ready quick dry cement it's the red bags that you use once you get the post set then you'll do just fine but make sure you spend all your time on digging those holes properly and setting those in line properly there's a lot of ways guys do it but you the best way to do it is set in cement but dry overnight and then you can follow my video I hope this helps you

How much per foot for materials and how much should I charge for labor does that include demo and dump fees ? Or charge extra?
@timshomeimprovement50275 жыл бұрын
Jess there are a lot of variables to consider if there is roots in the ground if there's a concrete you have to break up from old fence posts if you're putting in a gate or fence opening I don't know if it's on level ground it's hard to give a pricing and also if you're in a different state where it's cold if there's Frost in the ground you have to put in you have to dig a little bit deeper and you have to make allowances for freezing over for the cement in the post hole so there's a few things it's really hard to give a price the best I could say is you just figure out how long it would take you to do and how many guys and the materials and stop putting per square foot I hope that helps you

Did you use a 4 x 4 treated post or did you you just use the vinyl post in concrete? I start my project this weekend.
@DiecastShowcase5 жыл бұрын
Hi, this is Dillon, I was on the job with Tim. On gates/fences like this, its always a good idea to use a 4 by 4 or a 2 by 4 so you have something to screw into. It isnt always necessary to do this though. You have to have room to have the top railing on top and the bottom railing on the bottom. But if you do the proper post installation, 18 to 24 inches deep with a 1 1/2 to 2 bags of cement, it should be real sturdy. Another tip, you can pour cement inside the actual post when you fill the outside first. That will give you an extreme amount of strength. Whenever you pour cement inside, make sure you leave enough room to join the bottom rails and the top rails.
@patrickwhelan57035 жыл бұрын
@@DiecastShowcase Are all PVC posts the same diameter? Are some 4 " posts and some are 5" posts? I need to put a fence in for my parents to replace a wooden fence. If the fence height is 4 ft the post would be 6 ft, correct. That means 2 ft of PVC into the ground. In order to make sure the rails can be inserted, an inside wooden post can not come up higher than the cutout for the rails. Is this correct. I like the idea of sinking a wooden post but then , is it still necessary to add the concrete or are you always going to add concrete no matter what the case. PJ
@matthewsimonds52724 жыл бұрын
Vinyl posts are free standing. There is no need to use wood whatsoever. Pour your concrete in your hole and slide the post down into the concrete so that the post is “stuffed”. Always stuff your post! If you just pour around the post the vinyl will expand and contract and the will settle. The movement will also eventually break your footing and the post will become out of plumb. 18-24” is NOT sufficient hole depth! Always dig your holes a minimum of 28” to ensure you are below the frost line. If you don’t, it will cause “frost heave” and the post will lift up, creating a crappy looking fence that might just fall over.
@matthewsimonds52724 жыл бұрын
If you are in a high wind area, you can use steel post inserts. These are inserted into the post and set into the concrete in conjunction with the vinyl. For line posts they sell these in a z shape to allow the rail to slide into the post from both sides.
@matthewsimonds52724 жыл бұрын
If these steps were not followed with the fence shown in the video, that fence will look like crap in a year. The posts will become out of plumb and the tops will not be level.

@timshomeimprovement50274 жыл бұрын
As far as I know the fence is doing great and put four by fours on gate openings yes
@vinylyardsolutionsinc12284 жыл бұрын
And if u want the post to stay solid long term don't use a wood post inside but rather slide 4 re-bar into the concrete inside the post... then once the fence is assembled fill the post about 2/3 full of a wet, but stiff mix, of concrete. Put duct tape over the open end of the bottom rail first so the concrete doesn't run into it when u fill the post. Also be sure to screw on hinge and latch hardware before filling the posts.
@Wooster77 Жыл бұрын
I assume the neighbor didn’t want to split the cost of the fence. But if she she later decides to take down the stone wall, she benefits from the vinyl fence for free.
@skinnygumbo27005 жыл бұрын
The posts are moving at the top. That means you are assembling the fence before the concrete is settled, right?
@timshomeimprovement50275 жыл бұрын
Is this a job that you have done like your own house or customer the post should not move more than half an inch because it's flexible in either direction now if it's unsturdy and you can you know move the fence back and forth you know five in this way and five in that way or separate them yeah I would say there's something wrong with the post not being set properly I hope this answers your question let me know

I'm sorry I took too long to get back to you here if you haven't already installed your fence I would highly recommend cement you can use the other product and more than likely it would probably be okay but setting posts and cement is fairly easy you can put a bag of dry mix in in water and Let It Go set and it takes maybe five minutes at the most that's just the way I like doing it it depends where you live to if you live someplace with his Frost in the ground or it's cold you know it's I wouldn't use that product so there's a couple things you have to look at I hope that helped you and once again I'm sorry for taking so long I just didn't see your post not that it's any excuse I've been out of work for the last five months with a broken leg and it's been very difficult for things so but that's not your problem thank you for watching my post
