You have some great records there! I agree with all your decisions, too. Except, personally, I would part with that Cutting Crew record without question. You saved a fun collection of vinyl that you can be proud of.

Cut Cutting crew. 🤣

Stephanie, how ironic I came across your video today. Earlier in the day, I found a really clean copy of The Stray Cats - Built for Speed for $1. Such a good album!

Hi Stephanie ! Glad Nick Lowe made the keeper list. First time I saw him was at The Whisky opening for Elvis Costello & he took to the stage & said " So this is where The Doors played " & the band kicked into So It Goes ! Candy-O is my favorite Cars album. Take Care ✌️

What a great memory-wow, that must have been an amazing show! I love Elvis Costello. He and Nick Lowe are definitely keepers.

Oh yes, by all means, cut cutting crew! Sometimes it's easy but mostly thinning the herd is quite a difficult task

Stephanie, you and I are from different generations (I'm a baby-boomer and lean very heavily into '60s and '70s rock), but I do appreciate your approach to what you want to keep vs. toss. I can tell you are strictly into record collecting for the aesthetics of the music and not with any intention of selling to make any money down the road from your collection. I admire you for that. I am a collector as well but also, I sold vinyl for many years through mail-order, record shows, and storefront. I do have my own collection of discs to keep, appr. 2000 of both 45s and LPs. Of course, I have many thousands that I do sell from time to time though I'm really not in the business anymore. Yes, you are looking at this correctly. If you like it, keep it. If it's iffy, toss. But be aware that some that you may have can be of value. Talk to a record dealer in your area and if he's worth his salt, he'll guide you on that aspect. I made a few vids on my channel discussing my collection as well. Nice, very nice and refreshing video and I thank you for your upload. Regards, tp

Damn the Torpedoes is a great Tom Petty album, one of my favourites for sure..Jesus of Cool is my favourite Nick Lowe album..my mum loves Herman's Hermits and we had " the most of" comp when we were kids, worth having for ' No Milk Today' classic Graham Gouldman. I used to have Business As Usual, got purged years ago even though I quite enjoyed it. My brother had one of those 20 Fantastic Hits comps, see them a lot in bargain bins, the difficulty is finding clean copies.

Herman's Hermits are nostalgic. That's the tricky part when you're deciding what to let go. I love those old comps; they are the vinyl equivalent of a mixtape. But you're right-they are so good that everyone has played the hell out of them, and the sound quality is just too poor. Not worth keeping.

So many classic albums there! NICK LOWE!! A true gem! SQUEEZE!! I dig that CUTTING CREW album for sure. CANDY-O is my fave album by The Cars. I think that MEN AT WORK album is great... but a terrible album cover. And the original Aussie version was in black and white, I believe! I love the After the Snow album by Modern ENglish, but that 12" has the best three songs! And THE FIXX! What a classic. That's Jamie West Oram's signature on the cover...
@djstephwest7 ай бұрын
Thanks Steve. Yes, you can spot that Men at Work cover from a distance! The one I have is written in Spanish. I bought a long time ago at a JJ Newberry for 99 cents. 🤣 I looked up Jamie West Oram and the night he signed my album all came back to me. lol.

@@djstephwest I've got several Fixx CDs that I had the band autography so I was familiar with his signature. And you bought your Men at Work album at JJ Newberry? Man, I used to shop at Newberry's here in SoCal. We had one located between Vons and Sav-Ons and it would be a weekly thing: my sister, brother, and I would get our allowance and hit all three stores. I would end up with a few Jolly Rancher Stix (usually green apple or watermelon... maybe grape), a comic book (some variation on Superman, usually) and maybe a 7" single from Newberrys! This would have been... early to mid '70s!

J. Geils, Tom Petty really good. Hermits, pretty good. Heart is good. Cars good call. Keep the Fixx, it's autographed.

It’s sure tougher than it looks to determine what you clean out and what you keep isn’t it? I’d sure have a difficult time with a number of your records. I mean Tom Petty, The Clash, Men at Work, Heart, The Fixx, J Gail’s Band, Stray Cats, The Cars, Modern English. It would be impossible for me to want to part with any of those great albums. I might have to dump Cutting Crew though. Just not my taste is all. I’m finding when I want to discard any of my current albums it tends to be more a reason of quality, meaning if its really noisy and lots of pops I’d rather stream it than spin it in those cases. Have an awesome holiday weekend. Go do something fun.

I agree. I hold on stuff that sounds horrible because I think I wont be able to to find another copy. If it sounds like crap, it must go! Thanks for watching. Have a wonderful weekend!
