Played your recent declutter episode in the car on the way to work this morning: instant Podcast! Now that I can look at the screen, that Batman LP cover is really sharp. I've never seen that second Richard Hell album. Total Coelo: I have that 45 picture sleeve myself. I've seen Marshall Crenshaw live many times, and he still comes to CT. More keepers this time around, I concur 😎🎶

Thanks for listening on your drive-that's nice! Seeing Marshall Crenshaw live must have been really cool. Would like to see him with the Smithereens.

Glad you are away from all the fires, Stephanie. With your new time tomorrow, I might be able to catch you live! I love Gary Numan, but never picked up that Dance record. I'll have to check it out. Too bad about that Batman record. It looks cool!

Thanks, Mark. I hope your daughter is staying safe in Iowa. My guess is some kids probably got their hands on that Batman album back in the day and left their (scratch) mark on it! 🦇

Hi Steph! I will watch the live stream tomorrow evening. I like Eddie Money too. I sent a a donation to the Red Cross for the people affected by the California wildfires. I am very concerned about what is happening.
@djstephwest16 күн бұрын
Hi Catherine! That was kind of you to donate. Its so horrible what's happening over there.

@djstephwest Thank you. Alot of things happen here. Mount Saint Helens erupted in 1980. My family was living here Spokane. We sheltered in place as volcanic ash fell from the sky. We get wildfires in the summer, usually caused by people, earthquakes, floods, and strong windstorms. The National Guard has come to my state 3 times in my lifetime.

@@davidellis5141 The firefighters in LA are doing an amazing job. There are firefighters from so many states, Canada, and Mexico. The positive thing is seeing all the people helping each other.

I've been a big Marshall Crenshaw fan since he came out with that debut album. David Letterman had him on his show a few times and seemed to really like his music.
@djstephwest13 күн бұрын
That's neat. I'll see if I can find one of the Letterman performances. Thanks for sharing that.

Hi Stephanie ! Love the Blancmange 12" " I'm Up The Bloody Tree ! " & the mechanized handclaps. I liked the movie Smithereens .. it was on cable in the 80's. I grew up in New York City so I like location films from there. The Balancing Act were pretty slick & did a record on IRS & their manager Gary Calamar became a pretty popular DJ on KCRW & managed & record store that I eventually managed Moby Disc ( A Whale 🐋 Of A Record Store ) My Dad caught Eddie Money stealing in the 60's at a store he worked at but ended up signing him to Columbia. Check the thank You's & Don Ellis is one of the first names you see. See Ya tomorrow !

David i used to go Moby Disc and Tower in Sherman Oaks every Friday back in 90s. Thanks to Valley Relics I still have a Moby Disc shirt.

I just checked and saw the special thanks to Don Ellis!
@davidellis514116 күн бұрын
I managed the Santa Monica Moby Disc by Earth Wind & Flour Italian restaurant & my Dad signed a few acts from San Francisco including Toto & Paul Collins Beat & when the label wanted to drop Journey , he said what they needed was a front man as Greg Rollie was very good but trapped behind his organ & he had signed Steve Perry as part of a duo & the member had been in a fatal car crash .. Steve joined Journey & success came.

Dance is a really over looked Gary Numan album and it's definitely takes a couple of listens to grow on ya and Marshall Crenshaw is fantastic such a fan the debut and good evening are my favourites of his

Richard Hell was a founding member of the great band Television but left or was kicked out just before they recorded their debut album in 1977.

i need that 2nd Hell album. I love the movie Smithereens. Have the Criterion DVD. I Eat Cannibals is great tune. That Marshall Crenshaw album is almost like a Greatest Hits album. I think it was a law in early 80s that all New Wave bands had to have a song called “Girls.” Don’t hate me but I just got rid of those Black Sabbath and Soft Cell albums. See ya tomorrow….
@djstephwest16 күн бұрын
I think first time I saw the movies Smithereens was at 2am on some public access channel in the 90's. I thought it was so cool. Ha! You are right, and showcasing '80s albums with songs that have girls' names in them is a great video idea. Black Sabbath and Soft Cell and great but not rare finds.

Hello what a coincidence. I heard Destiny street by Richard Hello yesterday so I am sure. You gotta move song was not Stones. It was I gotta move from Kinks first album .....
@djstephwest5 күн бұрын
No kidding? Where did you hear Destiny Street? Thanks for the heads up. The Rolling Stones do a song call you gotta move but it's not the same one.
@jeffxpmdisc15 күн бұрын
"Destiny Street" is not as good as "Blank Generation" but it does contain possibly his best song "Time". (check the lyrics)
@djstephwest5 күн бұрын
I agree with you that Blank Generation is the best. Time is a cool song. But I would have to say that I love Destiny Street just as much because it's unique. It's a bit little more indulgent and experimental.

hey, do you have any other Eddie Money records? I like him, although the biggest deal with Eddie Money for me was the fact Kevin Gilbert (or "Kai Gilbert") was part of his band in the mid 80's, appearing on 1 album, 1988's "Nothing to Lose."
