She is in her right mind and she is trying to be polite. People who are not black have a tendency to take our politeness for being weak like we don't know how to be kind and I was taught kindness but they will try to run over us and when we speak up then they want to look at us as being bipolar or out of order when all we're doing is speaking up for the truth but God can and will have the last word in this all.

We try to be careful of what we say because there is always the problem of them trying to see if they can catch a spin something they can cause problems for us or our families but she has a Godly heart I know and she's probably wondering what's wrong with that woman the way she's asking those questions see her wisdom tells her what to say because people really don't understand and that's they went through something and if they are not black and never went through something sure there. But the world has them believing that black people are ignorant and that woman is nowhere ignorant she's highly intelligent with an education or not My mom passed away in 2012 she was 97 at the time she did not experience the massacre but she was born in 1915 I'm sure her family at talked about something about it. But my mother always fought for justice for people they had an exhibit in the museum in the city where I was born about the work my mother had done in the sixties. There are people out here fighting for justice.

I think the only dislikes should come from people who think some of the questions from the interviewer were cringe and disrespectful of someone suffering PTSD. I wish someone else was interviewing them so they could lead the conversation more and not be pigeonholed by the narrative of the interviewer. There were several veins of conversation I wish the interviewer had explored but instead she cut them off with her own list of questions from the network. I understand that’s just television but it sucks in cases like this where these survivors are already 100+ and hearing them unfiltered would be more important than anything, IMO.

When I was growing up in thd 50s & 60s, my father in SC read to us articles (limited) from the Afro News Paper about MLK visiting Tulsa. I remember it said there was a “Race Riot” there yrs ago & asked my dad the meaning. Just pick any U.S. State (or Territory) & Google it’s list of Racist Massacres. As you know~It first started with Native Americans, African Americans, Asians, Mexicans, etc. Historically, the USA has blood all over its Racist hands. And many atrocities were done in the name of their “christian” faith. Yup, the Invading Bible-toting Europeans & Slave masters cast their INHUMANITY, thinking it was “God’s word”, as they’re so doing it today.

@ Dolores Thompson Mrs. Fletcher was on Tony Brown's journal in the 1980s and she and other survivors and their descendants still haven't gotten paid. That is outrageous! Black America we can look to the Tulsa massacre to as an clear indicator as to what this government is going to do for black America. It looks like they are going to knuckle drag for as long as possible. When it comes down to it the government itself is behind all of the racial violence a.k.a. white violence. Well it is said that the government is the people and the people as the government they're talking about white people. It is like hand and glove. The government has been complicit in everything. Like I said they will knuckle drag until the end of time. The longer they take the pay reparations the longer it's going to be so they will always use time as an excuse. They are deliberately stalling. Oh, it was so long ago… But ultimately we're not talking about just slavery. If you add up all of these documented cases of white violence against the so-called black Americans on top of slavery, they owe us beyond imagination and white america knows it. They probably tell bedtimes tales of this to their children.

On 05/29/2021 there were 100's Black militia members were armed marching w/ Black women, men, and children through Greenwood. There were sniper teams spotted in tall half built buildings by militia members and a couple tense scenes with police. Then they FINALLY honored the previously submitted petition to an open carry march. The ancestral vibrations were intoxicating 🤜🏽🤛🏽💯🪲🌕⚫

Awesome interview! She was respectful and patient, as if they were her own grandparents. They and the families that were effected should be compensated. USA has a history and a present of deep rooted racist ideals, behaviors ,and systems put in place to oppress black people. It's not going anywhere because you have people fighting to keep it alive. They should be made WHOLE, whatever that looks like.

The historians that publish text books for K - 12 and universities appear not to mention or detail what happened in Tulsa. Thankfully there a few survivors remaining today to share the experience and it sounds very traumatic, sad, horrible. God bless Us.

I have never taught to a textbook. I have been teaching for 18 years. The information is out there, some teachers are just too lazy to find it. I put my own spend on the curriculum. I have taught this to my fifth graders and tied it to economics as well as race.

Is there honestly anyone who can say they're better than these two people. As a kid, 1950s, I saw Greenwood often, while driving with my family, ,always wondering about the boarded up windows, the kids playing on piles of rubble. What happened there? But no one ever knew. It made no sense . Only in the 1990s did I finally come across a few books. Glad it's finally in the open.
