@nikkijohnson945 жыл бұрын
Kids today are often exposed early on to adult content... It's important that his mother discusses with him the implications of his online presence for example, or his use of the word vixen. He sounds like a thoughtful, highly intelligent, creative young individual. To me, it portrayed at least that he has the skills and the support (at least for now) necessary to be able to make the best choices he can ..what's the difference bw this and performing theater ? At least as it was portrayed, he does not feel disgust or shame about his body, no desire to mutilate or harm himself, etc (often symptoms of children who are unable to express their gender identity or sexual preference due to risk of shame, isolation, potentially abuse) ... I am glad this portrays an example of a unique individual capable of thriving in today's world, being successful, gaining skills and understanding of the world... Ultimately his choices in life have already led him on quite the adventure ... He seems to have learned more about the world than many have at his age. I am curious if you Would have considered him oversexualized if this was a video about a young girl with the persona violet vixen who likes to play with makeup and dress up ?
@Christine-xt8fr5 жыл бұрын
@@nikkijohnson94 Yes, if he was a girl, I would definitely consider that behavior to be oversexualized. I thought the dance the kids were performing was a little much as well. As a matter of fact, wearing all that makeup and those clothes & shoes in public is highly inappropriate for a girl of 11, and if anything, I thought it a little LESS inappropriate because he's a boy. So people aren't having negative reactions because it's a boy wearing female clothing & makeup.... it's just that it's obvious that the kid is oversexualized!

The only thing that bothers me is how absorbed he seems to be in the internet. He's literally parroting Jeffree Star, a person in his 30's. I love Jeffree and Drag Race but I'm not really sure it's appropriate for an 11 year old to be mimicking full grown adults. Just bothered me when he used the phrase, "the real tea." How much tea does an 11 year old have to spill? lol Also these people totally have media personalities, with the cameras are off they're not always putting on full-face or acting dramatic. In Shane Dawson's new series you can see that Jeffree works really hard for what he has, he runs a business and a lot of the drag queens have casual lives off stage. There's nothing wrong with the makeup and clothes, that IS freedom of expression but I think he needs to be more aware that these people's media personalities aren't necessarily representative of how they act/look day to day. The larger issue here is the seemingly unrestricted access to the internet at his age.

He was confused and didn’t know what it was and like all human curiosity, it peaked his interest and was somehow stimulated by what he saw and became enamored by it. You can see he’s confused and unhappy with being a kid! 😭 He would be at peace being a regular child playing outside and loving cars. He should be carefree right now! It’s one thing if kids wear makeup because adults in their lives implies that they’re not good enough as their are and empathize that the way someone looks is what’s important. We see it on beauty pageants, parents who completely disregard their kids interests or wishes and teach them that they’re not good enough as they are. This does not seem like that. This kid is clearly exploring and having fun and the mum is not pushing him. To shame kids for going after what interests them or to tell them they can’t be a certain way, that’s what’s harmful.

Or if he dressed up as something a “normal” boy would like a superhero no one would take a second look I think it’s nice that his parents are allowing him to express himself. I think it’s really good that he a positive environment surrounding him which will help him to remember that what he’s doing isn’t wrong. At the end of the day he’s just being himself and expressing by self in different and unconventional ways that a typical boy would. It’s clear that he’s just having fun

Yes people usually don't like their 10 year olds sexualizing themselves caliing themselves "vixen" and going to dragqueen races.

Your comment is so stupid lol. Loads of people would complain about a young girl wearing too much makeup and wearing heels.

There's a reason the *kids his age* have a hard time with it, but the older girls don't so much. It's because the more your exposed to our world, the more you're influenced to do what is popular in society. Just as he wasn't into drag until seeing Rupauls Drag Race.

I seriously thought we were in a different time. That people were more accepting and respectful of people aren’t “normal”, it’s 2018 for gods sake. If this boy dressed like a stereotypical boy he would receive hate comments on him being crossed eyed or people would find something else to hate on him for.

It's 2018 for gods sake. If a under aged prepubescent boy dressed up like a sexually concatenated drag, it's okay. >: p slurp ..

I think what many people are saying in comments is dressing in drag or feeling the need to ....is ok. But he’s still a child and wearing excessive makeup/heels in public at that age comes across as over sexualizing a child. Key word “child”. Play makeup (as some are trying to call it) is worn at home or experimented with. He’s in grade 6 no? And sorry the name ‘vixen’ is a crazy choice of a name no?!! Could they not just have left it at Violet?!

Congratulations kid on expressing yourself! Not sure drag race is age appropriate but being from Brighton myself, it will always open you with welcoming non-judgemental arms (unlike this comment section). YOU BE YOU AND BE HAPPY. :D

Loved this so much! Such spirited, creative, authentic character in Leo, and mom has absolutely let that all flow with such true loving kindness. You are both magnificent. I do hope Leo learns to enjoy being a child. If he's idolizing the contestants of Ru Paul's Drag Race - he should take as much interest in the queens who haven't won big titles and prizes. It's no cake walk.

Funny how these kids start behaving this way when they "access Ru Pauls drag race"... As his mother said... I've heard this a lot from other parents who's children have got into this stuff. Disgusting parenting... Kids are EXTREMELY impressionable, its no wonder her Son is going down this road.

This kid needs serious psychological healing, and his home environment needs to be completely overhauled. He's being totally failed by those who he should be able to rely on 100% to look out for his health and wellbeing. People need to WAKE UP and STAND UP for goodness' sake. 21st century Earth is a freak show of unprecedented proportion, and the media is SO part of the problem.
