El rol de Odabella es de muy difícil interpretación, pues exige a que la soprano tenga una voz robusta, vibrante , heroica y al mismo tiempo domine la coloratura dramática, VIOLETA URMANA cumple con creces estas exigencias del rol. Esta interpretación así lo demuestra, es maravillosa, y quedará como un ÍCONO , así como lo fue en su momento (1963) la interpretación de una inmensa soprano CATERINA MANCINI. The warm lower register comes from her singing mezzo roles before she switched to soprano. I am seriously worried about the top that has already a hint of wobble in it. It is dangerous to push a voice to the limits. Yes, she has the range, but is it wise to linger in the higher part of her register?

Her low register is truly impressive. As for the rest, not so good. The wobble is rather strong, she's sometimes out of tune, and it's too slow. Honorable performance though.

Crazy lady. This is def. NOT a mezzo soprano, even if high dramatic mezzo... It sounds heroic as hell, and sounds puissant but it's very much a show-piece. I doubt she did this on stage, or did she?

@@numetutelare La mia modesta opinione e’ che questa brava giovane donna aveva di natura la voce del mezzosoprano vero. Cambiando il suo repertorio Violetta Urmana da sola ha distrutta la bellezza della sua vera voce . E’ lo stesso se un baritono vero cambia il suo repertorio interpretando dei ruoli del tenore. Nella storia della lirica sono pochi che hanno riuscito di farlo ma a che prezzo ! Come sempre Lei ha ragione. Saluti cordiali Nicola 🌹

Лучше б она пела партии для высокого альта. В сопрано тембр хуже. Перетянутые высокой тесситурой связки звучат как бензопила и звучит это на грани возможностей а не героически и торжественно как задумано Верди. Одном словом, любое закаленное колоратурное сопрано это сделает лучше гораздо. В Аттиле нужна тембристая четкая колоратура тогда это красиво а не эти прямые как палка звуки как у Виолы. Справилась она с арией этой и не более того.

Violet has the appropriate voice for this role, heroic, martial, a trumpet to encourage men into battle. Not J.Sutherland who is a great singer but with a lighter voice.

Im sure this must have been exciting in the theatre, but heard in a recording its a very flawed performance. Its a fiendishly difficult piece, requiring Vocal power, an extended range and also a coloratura technique. She has the first two qualifications, but not the third.
