I think I watched this under some other commentator, the commentator said that a draw was agreed upon for this game,so it didnt count. So they played another game, that replaced this and rock beat chal in that one.

How to break that ramp: - Start by sealing him in securely with cannons. Arbiters, Dark Archons and High Templar are fearsome vs. units, but not vs. buildings. You prevent him from sneaking out with Dark Archons and ninjaing units, or with Templars and storming units. - Get about 40 Scouts with full upgrades, and a dozen shield batteries behind your cannons. Spread them out in many small groups to avoid massive storms and stasis fields.

The stasis on all those units just prior to the recall is easily the pimpest play I've ever seen., especially since The Rock STILL WENT FOR THE RECALL and lost the 3 or 4 units that got in. If only Charlrenge had shuttled out 3 or 4 HT's to storm those bunched up units just after the stasis wore out, it would have been an unbeatable pimpest play.

Why would TheRock ever build more than one scarb at a time? Its not like he's needs to shoot constantly. The high templars would have been annoying but don't reavers range them?

Incase someone did not mention this earlier. This was a draw and the rule for draws is that they play a rematch and the rematch is what you are seeing.

In sc, winning means killing all buildings. Therefore, if your opponent is terran, and he lifted his buildings, AND you don't have air units, nor workers/minerals - it's draw. So what if he had map, but couldn't do anything with it?

Archons and arbiters are pretty big too. Also, mind control reduces da's shields to 0, so they'd die in only two interceptor hits.

You're forgetting that reavers generally carry scarabs. Even if Chalrenge only got one or two scarabs per reaver, they could cause massive damage. There were also quite a few high templar with plenty of storm energy, and some stasis, too. Reavers might have worked better, but my intuition says they would not.

cannons cant shoot either under disruption web. so he could have basically put 2-3 disruption webs over the cannons and then waltzed his way up the ramp and gotten quite a few troops up into the base before getting stasised.

not a bad idea but I think stasis, feedback and storm would take care of the sairs too quickly. he'd have to combine it with a ground assault (when Chalrenge's arbiters are out of position) but with the ramp and DA's stopping recalls that would also be very difficult.

well from all the comments i'm reading and adding in my own words i think that the last screen they showed was the rock's screen or the first was either way both were poor so it was called as a tie and they had a rematch since the game was a tie.

I think TheRock should have used MASSED DISRUPTION WEBS at the top of Chalrenge's Base. He could then ferry/recall in a few probes to build pylons and MASS CANNON under the protection of mass disruption webs. He then would of course lay waste to Chalrenge's base as the webs lift.

Except as everyone has mentioned the chalrange had no minerals. Plus if you had like five reavers with three arcons nearby they would kill any mind controlled reavers before they did any real damage.

(cont.) - Retreat groups that take too much damage from storms to the shield batteries, and send them back in. Scouts are expensive and you don't want to lose too many. - Full upgrades means you should have an easy time against cannons. Make 10 groups of 4 scouts apiece and break that turtle!

Carriers would have worked. So what if some get mc'd, the moment after the remaining carriers would kill the da, and then the mc'd carrier. You can't fight carriers without taking losses, and chal couldn't afford to loose anything.

Go reavers and range the cannons... sounds like a good idea, until you realize that your reavers are gonna get mind controlled. If you send in a bunch of reavers, all it takes is for Chalrenge to MC two of them and they all die in glorious scarab explosions.

Scarabs take only a few seconds to build. Probably enough time for no more time than for 5 energy to regenerate.

If The_Rock had attacked unsuccessfully again, he would have been at a serious risk of losing. Had he attacked unsuccessfully twice more, I can virtually guarantee Chalrenge would have won. Remember that Chalrenge was able to continuously pick off units by mind control, and the fewer units there are to kill them, the more effective this strategy is. Also, if The_Rock lost his last observer, he would lose. It was just way too risky.

I wonder how mass Zealots would have fared. He had enough minerals in the bank, that I think he would have forced Chalrenge to use up all of his MC/storm/Stasis energy on the first couple waves. The key would of course be not letting Chalrenge get his energy back. I don't know, I'm bad at SC. Just a thought.

Chalrenge was actually mostly gaining units from rock's attacks rather than loosing them, so probably wouldn't have helped. Carriers would have won him the game though, as they are virtually impossible to fight without taking heavy losses.

@ The Idiot, Chalrenge would need to place layers of disruption web IN FRONT of the cannons to ensure that not even goons can fire at the cannons. The only real threat would be storm, but a many spread out probes should be able to cope with that.

you make a good point but im just saying. the rock had pretty much an unlimited amount of resources compared to chalrenge. he could build just 4-5 corsairs and get a good one or two webs off. cant feedback them all.

If the reavers got MC, Chalrenge has no eco=can't build scarabs, and reavers become a pile of useless fail. Reavers would have worn Chalrenge down like no other unit would have.

Here's what I'd do: 1. recall only zealots into the base, cause they are small and fast and weak 2. tell them to go after pylons to disable the cannons 3. also hope chalrenge will waste MP on these zealots with mind control, stasis, and storm 4. then recall stronger units like archons and goons

Of course you keep building scarabs but you build one, shoot, build one, shoot, and so on. TheRock was not in a hurry it doesn't matter if the scarabs shoot slower than usual.

Rock should have just massed arbiters. I mean get like 20 and stasis EVERY SINGLE UNIT in chalrenge's base and then he would have been able to recall or shuttle his entire army into the base unharmed. Of course it's hard to come up strats like this when you're getting humiliated on live TV.

Reavers may have been marginally more successful, but I think Chalrenge had plenty of spells to deal with the relatively small number of reavers he could send. And if he attacked with 12 reavers and only took out two cannons and three zealots, that really wouldn't be good enough. Both sides were operating on finite resources, even if TheRock had many more. Also, mind controlling reavers carrying scarabs would have been invaluable to Chalrenge.

Well the dark archons could feedback or mindcontrol the corsairs and the disruption web would be more helpful in the hands of Chalrenge. Also the rock would get stasis'd on the ramp quite easily. If I were in the rocks position I would make gateways in the middle of the map and spam zealots and goons pulling back only when the ramp is stasis'd

Why the hell would you support your Carriers with Corsairs? A large group of Carriers can take care of Cannons, Dragoons and Archons perfectly well without D-web. Are you planning to rush his Arbiters with those corsairs? They'll just get Stasis'd Also, Carriers are very risky because your opponent needs only 2/3rds of your Carrier supply in Dark Archons to turn your Carrier fleet into his Carrier fleet. If he doesn't have enough Dark Archons, he can just Stasis the remaining Carriers.
