I like this slightly different format where you're showing a student how to do the technique. It's useful to see someone who hasn't quite got it yet improving with your advice.

Hey Ms. Bushkova, thank you for the very informative video. I love your videos, you're such a good teacher. I also love your violin. It's so powerful and bright. It projects so well. I bet it costs a fortune.

Last week, I had the courage to perform this on stage. It wasn't that bad. But it was a very dangerous piece to play.

Which shoulder rest you have?
@ViolinClassUSA5 жыл бұрын
I use Willie Wolf Forte Secondo. Sometimes, I switch to a Kun; sometimes, I switch to a sponge, and some days I practice without any.

A very well done video, though I'm fairly sure that the student is already adept at the stroke. Not mentioned was the role of the pinky in modulating the bow height during the stroke. With a purely horizontal stroke and no pinky support the ricochet could not be sustained. At least that is my personal experience.

Thank you for being a subscriber and for your comment. It was during her lesson earlier that same week when I taught Clarissa the ricochet; she had no inkling how to do it. She went home to practice; I called her to do this video 3 days later, and yes, she already got it by then. In that sense, she 'had' the stroke.
@InvincibleViolinist6 ай бұрын
@@ViolinClassUSA thank you for the clarification. What is your thought about using the pinky to make this stroke work properly?
@ViolinClassUSA3 ай бұрын
Apologies - I haven’t noticed your follow up question until now. I teach the pinky function much before we get to this level of playing, so there hasn’t been the need to explain it in connection to the ricochet - at least, in my experience. So, in this case, with Clarissa, I didn’t have to say anything about it - not in her lesson, and not here.
