Here I am this fine Friday April 12th 2024 listening to Nana. I've been listening to her since I was a young teenager and I'm 64 years old now. I've had the pleasure of seeing her 3 times in person.

❤ Only love can make a memory Only love can make a moment last. You were there And all the world was young And all its songs unsung, And I remember you then, When love was all, All you were living for, And how you gave that love to me. Only then I felt my heart was free, I was part of you and you were all of me. Warm were the days and the nights of those years, Painted in colors to outshine the sun. All of the words and the dreams and the tears Live in my remembrance. Only love can make a memory, Only love can make that moment last, Life was new There was a rage to live, Each day a page to live, And I remember you then, When love was all, All you were living for, And how you gave that love to me. Only then I knew my heart was free, I was part of you and you were all of me.

One of my father's favorite songs and artist. Our childhood home was filled with Nana's magical voice. Then I played it often while he was in the last stage of his life. Now I play it at his final resting place...considering it my and my wonderful father's song. Thank you Nana for being so worthy of singing this song to the best father any daughter could hope and wish for.

I woke up with another song but this was My childhood song I’d sing to my family and when I was away on holidays I’d sing this and everyone stopped talking because I’d sing this in key I’m crying now😅 remembering this, this song has so much feelings for me, it’s in my very fabric of being, they don’t make songs like this anymore, I was lucky enough to see her live on Cardiff and she sand one song without a mic, and she was like an opera singer, so underrated of a singer

Part of our lives in the 60s and 70s - sister played her LP often in the house and I learned her _White Rose Of Athens_ on the tin whistle. Saw her in concert in Nottingham's Royal Centre in 1989. That night she sang in many languages (Irish included) but only gathered the crowd with her when she sang in her native Greek: her visit was a brief happy moment for the large Greek community in Nottingham. She wouldn't be a major singer in the wider horizon but she stuck with her own timeless values. 🙇♂

I remember that too. Nana used to make a lot of singing appearances on British TV in the 70s,mainly on shows my parents watched. A teacher at junior school seemed to have adopted her style with the way she wore her long dark hair and her glasses. We used to get a different form teacher dedicated to us each year, all women,as well as a specific classroom. She was the youngest and most easy-going one, ands in that year 1974-75 we were in the modern, light and airy, prefab extension at the back of the school instead of one of the old rooms that ringed the hall in the Victorian main building. Reminds me of borrowing Ladybird books from the in-class library, walking home with various art creations and how no-one accidentally or foolhardily opened their wrists for an in-class blood spatter with those deadly craft knives. I can almost smell the Copydex glue now.
