From 1986 to 2006, Lt. Col. Dan Hampton was the leading pilot of the Wild Weasels, the Air Force's elite fighter squadrons whose missions are considered the most dangerous in modern air combat. He was in Iraq, Kosovo and the Persian Gulf War where he saved a unit of Marines. He had: 151 combat missions, 21 confirmed destruction of surface-to-air missile launcher sites, 4 Flying Crosses with the Badge of Valor, 1 Purple Heart. His autobiography "Viper. F-16 Pilot" gives insight into the training and combat missions of elite military pilots.
