"Tornado" by AbstractDark [All Coins] | Geometry Dash 2.2

This is the sixth Legendary level thus far, and only the third Platformer one. Considering the quality in both gameplay and visuals, as well as the overall experience, I think it's deserved. This will give you at least a good 5 minutes of playtime, but even more if you try to go for the secret routes, which lead to coins. It's nice to see a Legendary that's a bit on the easier side for accessibility's sake.
I mentioned the overall experience, which lies in the usage of art and audio. Everything feels intentional for the sake of emphasizing the theme of the level. As the title says, this is about a tornado sweeping over an area, but before that you have to pass through some nice nature and then into a fortress. Further into the level, you have to make it through the tornado yourself as it wreaks havoc on the environment. At the end, you are back where you started, but all you see are the ruins. This connects the start and end really nicely, making for a cohesive story overall, even though it's a bit depressing. Without great art for both the background and foreground, as well as fitting music and SFX usage, the theme wouldn't be portrayed nearly as good. AbstractDark has always been great at making themed levels, and with these tools, it's no surprise it ended up this good.

Amazing platformer level, easily one of my favorites thus far. It’s creative, cinematic, and the atmosphere (no pun intended) is great. I do wish abstractdark made more custom made designs and used less of the built-in pixel ones, but that’s obviously a lot of work and would’ve resulted in a more object heavy level.

It would have taken a lot away from the level imo. The simplicity in its design helps the actual creative parts of it stand out. If the designs of everything were customed as well it would not only unnecessarily divert the attention away from the core strengths, but it would also look cluttered and it would feel like the level is trying to do too much. This was the perfect balance in my personal view. But ofc it all depends on person to person.

This may possibly be my favorite 2.2 level thus far. It not only utilizes almost every new thing; it PUSHES these new elements to new heights and helps in providing an intense atmosphere. I think this may be the first Mythic rate we see, and even if it doesnt end up getting that rating, it will be in my heart.

Yeah, ''cinematic'' is definitely the best one word to describe this level with. It's absolutely phenomenal, those cutscenes with excellent angles, perspectives and camera-work are just an absolute treat to behold! One of the many great reasons why AbstractDark is one of my favourite creators in the game. The level's sheer awesomeness and excellence value doesn't always come from the objective quality of its block designs and decorations, it can also stem from just how well-crafted other parametres of the level are - things like the aforementioned camerawork, gameplay, little details, easter eggs and secrets, general effects, sound design, so on and so forth. Tornado is an excellent example of ALL of these parametres, and the only quote on quote ''drawback'' it has, is that its overall decoration quality is *ONLY* above average. And even then, that's a very easily ignorable nitpick, considering how crafting excellent effects like the castle getting ripped apart *1:32**,* the mast getting thunderstruck *2:46* and the tower collapsing *4:08* would've been practically impossible to do with higher quality, custom-made assets.
