Sir i have a question that in which work Shelley called Wordsworth a moral eunuch? If you can tell plzz
@vipulvkapoor Жыл бұрын
There is no evidence that Shelley referred to Wordsworth as a "moral eunuch" in any of his works. In fact, Shelley had great respect for Wordsworth as a poet and thinker, and the two writers had a friendly correspondence. While they had some differences in their views on politics and religion, Shelley praised Wordsworth's poetry in his essay "A Defence of Poetry" and wrote a sonnet in his honor, titled "To Wordsworth." It is possible that this quote is a misattribution or a fabrication.

Byron called Wordsworth "a moral eunuch" in "Don Juan" and it is found in Canto III, stanza 88 of the poem.
@vikaskasniaRJ13 Жыл бұрын
Tnx a ton Sir ⚘⚘ but we often read that Wordsworth was criticized for becoming Tory/royalist later on his life. Even Shelley criticized Wordsworth in his work called "Peter Bell the third".
@vipulvkapoor Жыл бұрын
Yes, in Peter Bell Shelley criticized Wordsworth's tendency to moralize and his simplistic portrayal of characters, as well as his use of nature as a moralizing force.
