Utterly ridiculous! She charged her mother - shamefully disgraceful! If you don't have money, pull back on wedding entertainment, go to the courthouse. The childishness of it all!! A temu fan... Get outta here! She asked 360 ppl and only 60 showed up - she lost on what could have been a beautifully shared experience! I'm certain she lost friends & respect also! What's more important - the wedding or marriage!?! They're really ignorant!

No, no, no! Weddings (contrary to popular belief) are not concerts, plays, movies, sporting events or whatever else they think it is where you’d pay admission. Weddings should not be a paid event because indirectly, they already are by the time you travel and buy a gift. Charging an admission to a wedding is ridiculous.

I get it, weddings are expensive. Even a modest wedding can easily run $10,000 & everybody & their momma wanna come. Not to mention there are some who won’t even give a gift. So I get why she would want to do it like this. HOWEVER, it’s not something I would do. There are people who love you but honestly can’t afford a $300 ticket. Therefore my character wouldn’t allow to do something like this.

I've had the opportunity to work with diverse ethnic groups and In the past have attended weddings of other cultures who requested a dollar amount around $250 money for the wedding. They did not want or expect any gifts or anything else to attend. They did not put a gun to people's head (especially a lone outsider like myself) but one would feel a bit uncomfortable not giving money when the family was collecting. They were both large beautiful weddings with nice music, live entertainment, food and gift bags. I just got the feeling that it was the way their families, community and culture did things. I was later informed that on the same day the family was paying entertainment, vendors etc. so the money would cover the entire wedding. And the couple got a nice send off. If I never had those experiences I might think of this story very differently.

I would not have to paid to attend. At first I thought the payment was to cover their meal & drinks. THAT I would do. But I’m not paying so that you can buy me gifts 😮. That makes no sense. They started out with 350 on the list of which only 60 committed. I feel like this was a tactic to ween out those they didn’t particularly want to invite anyhow. For events such as weddings, we tend to invite out of obligation. They eliminated that issue. Crest la vie!
