This is true. I also gave my skin a while to reset when I got serious about it--no makeup, VERY basic gentle ingredients. I realized I was fixing side effects and symptoms instead of the root cause. If you've been messing with your skin for long enough, at some point, you're constantly fixing things that you've caused with the wrong products (right for the issue, wrong for the root). I found that by the time I finally gave my skin a rest after I initially started messing with it, My skin type was even different than I initially thought!! It's important to think about when you first started noticing skin problems and why, a lot of people only start addressing their skin health after they start wearing irritating makeup and noticing reactions....

I had a situation where my skin barrier was damaged. What I did was use the Aveeno calm+restore cleanser and CeraVe moisturizer cream only at night. Then I used a warm wash cloth in the morning to cleanse along with the calm+restore serum and my sunscreen moisturizer. That's it, and my skin healed within 4-6 weeks which is how long it takes. You have to keep the routine very simple bc your skin is super vulnerable at this time. Hope this helps.

Im curious Dr.Stephens because my derm prescribed a cream that's: Azelaic Acid 20% Kojic Acid 6% Niacinamide 4%. And it does tingle a bit and they did warn it would tingle and that's normal. Should I be concerned? Btw I've been using it for a little over a month and their 2nd suggestion was Hydroquinone which after hearing from you and other doctors was just a little too scary to try for the hyperpigmentation over my top lip and neck areas.
@Lovebirdd8 ай бұрын
listen to your dermatologist. they know YOU, your situation, and your history. online doctors can't offer you the same support. and just for what it's worth: the tingling is from the azelaic acid, which is very normal and safe. finally, hydroquinone is also safe if used under the guidance of a dermatologist and strictly following their advice.
